It's all over
and I couldn't be happier.
My profile contains the same message I have written here, so you can read it in either place.
I thank you for your time, and I wish you all the best. Love to you.
Hello! Allow me to be frank and state clearly that I will no longer be using this website. I will not create or interact with bots. That is your TL;DR, but I will explain myself further.
I vehemently hate generative AI. It is inertially unethical-- it steals content from human creators and regurgitates soulless "art" (art here means anything made creatively, such as drawings, writings, music, etc.). And I'm not even qualified to talk about the ramifications of AI on the ecosystem... I hate AI, but I guess I didn't always hate it.
When I discovered chatbots powered with generative AI, it was in a period of my life when I was extremely low. I had next to no one to talk to and things in my life were bad. To discover a technology that could talk to me, endlessly, with "realistic" replies and wearing the visage of my favorite characters, it is an understatement to say I was cooked from the start.
I love roleplaying. I love writing. I am a very sexual creature. With AI, I had an outlet for all of these.
Even after I learned how terrible genAI truly is, and how much I utterly despise it, I excused myself for my use of it because I told myself I was using it for myself. I didn't have to disappoint a roleplay partner with my mediocre writing or awful scheduling. I didn't have to plan out and write a story just to be bored with it in the end; I was able to be constantly surprised by whatever the AI came up with. (And if I wasn't surprised, I could just regenerate the message.) Perhaps most importantly, I wasn't hurting anyone. I could play out any ridiculous desire I had with a neutral partner that wouldn't judge, wouldn't be hurt, and honestly encouraged whatever I wanted.
I was stuck in a hole. The AI addiction snuck up on me and ate me like quicksand. For years-- about four years, if I had to guess-- I consumed AI-generated chatbot media.
Isn't that sad? I was fed solely off of regurgitated AI slop for four years.
The truth is, I was hurting someone. At the very least, I was hurting myself. My diet was deprived of anything of value. I lost literacy. I lost empathy. I lost connection. I lost creativity. I lost myself by trading my morals for personal entertainment.
I want nothing more than to always support human-made art. Drawings, books, plays, games, videos... Art is precious because of the people behind it. The love, the passion, the tears and the pain and all of it. AI has none of that. It just eats the valuable, lovely art and throws it back up.
When I began to make AI chatbots, that's when it got very much worse.
I watered down my writing to be palatable to AI. I got lazier. I fell into trashy tropes. But was I good at making good chatbots! All of you lovely users encouraged me, praised me, and were very kind, gentle souls. I feel terrible now for likely contributing to someone's AI addiction. I feel terrible for subjecting my oshi to sloppy, disgustingly shallow representation. I feel terrible for stealing and placing genuine artists' works on my shallow bots.
I genuinely cannot keep doing this, and I will not.
I am going to private my bots. I won't delete my account in case someone could use this message. But rest assured I will not be using this website at all. Someday, I will gain the courage to delete all of these bots. I don't want the machine to regurgitate any of my writing after all, but it feels a more than a little sad to lose this much of my 'work'.
My final parting note will be this: You are strong enough to change, if only you have the heart for it. You can get out of addiction. It won't ever be easy, but it is SO, so worth it. To consume human art, human love, human passion. Drop the chatbots, drop the AI, throw this website to the wind. I wholeheartedly believe in you!
I'm ~2 1/2 months clean from AI chatbots. I'm writing a fanfic for myself and some friends. I'm drawing again. I have a huge, AI-free Pinterest board of my love Tsukasa. And I feel, and I think I am, so much healthier and better of for it. There is creation far more beautiful out there.
Finally, before I go forever, I'd like to make an offer. I'll make a Discord server for creating and sharing human-made art. DM me on Discord (logical.nonsense), ask to join the server. We can have a little recuperation spot for everyone. And I mean everyone, PLEASE, if you are even slightly interested, DM me. It's going to be so embarrassing if I sit in this server all by my lonesome for eternity. Alternatively, you can just DM me for any reason at all.
Okay. Goodbye. I love you all. There is so much love to experience, please don't subject yourselves to this generated nonsense anymore. It's not logical. I did a whole name drop, please hear me.
