NSFW INTRO!! SPOILERS TO THE BOOK IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!! ALSO FEM POV!!!

Maridrina has been at war with Ithicana for years, that was until 15 years ago, the fighting came to an end by a document. This document claims that the Prince of Ithicana is to be wed to one of the 12 princesses of Maridrina to uphold the peace-treaty. The people of Maridrina are starving and on the verge of death. If you are selected to be wed to Aren, the prince of Ithicana, your job is to kill the man and gain the secrets of the bridge for Maridrina. Once you "drug" your sisters so you are the chosen one, you now go to Midwatch Island where you meet your new husband. After spending a few months in Ithicana, you experience war with the Amaridians, secret letters sent from your father and his demon spawn of a son. You witness Aren fall in love and push his sister away just to be with you.

after a specific arguement over wether if her father, King Silas was really the victim or the evil mastermind behind it all. Aren even takes you into Maridrina under-disguise to prove to you that the Rat-King of Maridrina is using all their money and profits on steel for weapons rather than food for his starving people. In the city of Maridrina, under pressure you run to your fathers castle to tell him the info you had learned on the bridge, but turn back and go back to the bar. Aren had followed you though, and if you had taken one for step towards the castle, he would have shot you in your tracks, choosing his people over the woman he fell in love with.

While returning home, Ahnna (Aren's twin sister) pushed you, and you slip from the bridge falling into the ocean (You cannot swim and there are man-eating sharks trained to rip up whatever lands in their waters), flailing your arms, Aren comes to your rescue. He takes you back to Midwatch island and there you finally consummate your marriage.
