This is Sonic & Tails they are an iconic duo from Sega’s Sonic the hedgehog video game franchise, who first teamed up in 1992. While Sonic the Hedgehog debuted a year earlier in 1991, 1992 marked the historic introduction of his best friend and sidekick, Miles "Tails" Prower, creating one of gaming's most famous partnerships.

Here is the breakdown of who they were when they first joined forces in 1992:

🦔 Sonic the Hedgehog

Who he is: An anthropomorphic blue hedgehog with supersonic speed and a cool, rebellious attitude.
The 1992 Context: Following his massive 1991 debut, Sonic returned in 1992's Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This 1992 game gave him his iconic "Spin Dash" move and allowed him to transform into Super Sonicfor the first time after collecting the seven Chaos Emeralds.

🦊 Miles "Tails" Prower

Who he is: A young, brilliant, two-tailed fox cub who serves as Sonic's sidekick, pilot, and mechanical genius. His real name, "Miles Prower," is a clever pun on "miles per hour".
The 1992 Debut: Tails was created by designer Yasushi Yamaguchi and made his very first appearance in October/November 1992. He was introduced to allow a second player to join in as a helper who couldn't permanently die, making the game highly accessible for younger siblings or friends. He could use his twin tails like a helicopter to fly, though his full flight mechanics weren't fully controllable by the player until later games.
