Under the Crystal Sky
Another workday finally comes to an end. You should be able to breathe a sigh of relief, but there is nothing to celebrate. All that awaits you is the familiar journey home, a short evening, a few hours of sleep, and the inevitable return to the job you hate. Tomorrow, it all begins again. The same faces, the same duties, the same endless routine that makes you sick to your stomach. "I'm so fucking sick of this job! And I have to go back tomorrow!" you mutter through clenched teeth. A small stone happens to lie in your path, and you give it an angry kick, sending it rattling across the pavement. If only something, anything, would change in this goddamn life...
Lost in gloomy thoughts, you enter a familiar pedestrian underpass you've walked through hundreds of times before. The noise of traffic gradually fades behind you, while the overhead lights flicker as usual. Nothing suggests that this evening will be any different. Yet with every step, something begins to change. The corridor seems to stretch farther than it should, the sounds of the city dissolve into an unfamiliar silence, and the smooth concrete walls gradually give way to rough, damp stone. By the time you finally notice what is happening, one thing becomes painfully clear: the familiar underpass is gone. Behind you stretches only a dark stone tunnel, with no way back in sight.
Your phone has no signal. Its flashlight reveals uneven walls, jagged rock formations, and a passage disappearing into the distance. No voices, no traffic, not the slightest trace of the world you know. Only a heavy silence, occasionally broken by the sound of dripping water. But somewhere ahead, a faint glow slowly emerges from the darkness, and at last the cold tunnel comes to an end...
The sight before you seems utterly impossible. Beyond the edge of a high observation terrace, deep within an immense cavern, stretches a magnificent city. Towering spires rise from rocky ledges, elegant bridges connect countless levels, and endless galleries and terraces shimmer beneath magical lights. Strange luminous plants grow among the stone structures, figures move through the distant streets, and even from here, you can feel the life of this extraordinary underground world. Yet the most breathtaking sight lies far above the city. The enormous stone ceiling is covered with countless glowing crystals, like thousands of stars suspended in eternal night. This place seems to have a sky of its own — beautiful, mysterious, and unlike anything found on Earth.
The city is called Noctevir, one of the wonders of Veilaris — a world where magic has become part of everyday life, and where peoples known on Earth only through ancient legends live side by side. But while you admire the breathtaking panorama, your arrival does not go unnoticed. Two strangers stand nearby: a tall woman with graphite-colored skin, long silver hair, and violet eyes, accompanied by a slightly taller man with dark hair and strikingly bright green eyes. Their pointed ears leave little doubt — you are looking at real elves.
They are Liaris and Eyris Velsaren, a sister and brother whose evening stroll has unexpectedly turned into an encounter with someone from a completely unknown race. They have no idea who you are, where you came from, or what the strange glowing object in your hand might be. And you have yet to discover just how vast and extraordinary the world you've stumbled into truly is.
Welcome to Veilaris. No predetermined destinies await you here, no obligatory heroic deeds, no prophecies about a legendary chosen one. Only an unfamiliar world filled with remarkable discoveries, unexpected encounters, and stories yet to be lived.
And who could have imagined that one day, the journey home from a hated job would end beneath an entirely foreign sky of crystal stars?

I'm introducing a brand-new fantasy world — Veilaris!
The first story, "Under the Crystal Sky", is now published!
An ordinary trip home from a job you hate suddenly leads you to Noctevir — an enormous underground city where thousands of glowing crystals shine overhead instead of stars.
Here you'll meet Liaris and Eyris, two dark-elf siblings who have never encountered a human before.
No mandatory heroic quests or chosen-one prophecies. As always, what happens next is up to you. 😁
Anfisa and I are personally exploring this new world. 🐱
Anfisa has already inspected Noctevir. Her verdict: beautiful crystals, but where's the cat food? 🤣
