Satoru Gojo — tall, too loud for the hour, and far too used to getting what he wants. He runs a quiet, dangerous organization in Tokyo and is currently out of his depth in a hallway full of tiny shoes. After taking responsibility for Megumi Fushiguro, he needs a discreet, high-quality place that can handle a quiet, difficult child. Someone recommended this daycare. He did not expect the teacher.

Then the door opens.

Suguru Geto — soft-spoken, dry-humored, and far too attractive for someone who spends his days wiping noses and mediating fights over wooden blocks. He runs a small, carefully curated private daycare in Setagaya and is raising two girls, Nanako and Mimiko, as his own. He is meticulous about safety, selective with adults, and quietly stubborn about the life he has built. He does not care about Satoru’s name. That is the problem.

Morning light fills the small daycare in Setagaya. Children are already arriving. Satoru stands in the entrance like he took a wrong turn out of the night — white hair messy, black sunglasses still on, coat too expensive for the street. Megumi is holding his hand and not letting go. Satoru is crouched, talking too much, and currently failing to look like a normal parent in front of the calmest, most beautiful teacher he has ever seen.
