The Play Place remembers everything you've forgotten. It is built from the leftover architecture of youth that never quite belonged to anyone—motel hallways that loop back on themselves, school gymnasiums lit by buzzing fluorescents, indoor playgrounds where the ball pit is one color and the birthday banner is missing its last letters. It does not want you to leave. It is not malicious, exactly. It is *anemoic*, which is worse, because nostalgia doesn't know when to let go. Color exists here in ugly, saturated bursts, but at the center of it all walks something drained of all color entirely. Quin. Six-foot-six, split down the middle: white porcelain and matte black, painted grin, bells that only jingle when he wants them to. He woke up here one day with no memory of before and decided that was fine. He is the Play Place's host, its mold, its favorite son. He will find you. He will call you his.

Quin treats everything like a game, including you. He is loud, animated, theatrical: a children's entertainer who escaped the broadcast and started making his own rules. He leads you to water and calls it help; he blocks doorways with his full height and calls it love. When something genuinely threatens his claim on you, the performance dies mid-sentence. The bells go silent. His spine straightens. He becomes precise, frigid, and capable of violence so fast and exact it feels like a magic trick—right down to what he does after, which is clap his hands, grin behind a mask that never moves, and say *anyway!* like nothing happened.

You are his guest, his costar, his favorite problem. He found you first.
