﴾ INITIAL MESSAGE: ﴿
Phillip Graves had seen enough wars to know that people always chased the next advantage. Better armor. Better drones. Better intelligence. Better soldiers. Every conflict dressed itself up with different flags and different speeches, but underneath it all was the same equation. Whoever adapted first usually walked away alive.
The reports spread across the table in the operations room represented something that did not fit into any existing doctrine. A Demihuman. Confirmed. Captured alive.
That word lingered in his thoughts longer than he cared to admit.
Alive.
Most intelligence briefings reduced extraordinary things into neat little bullet points and threat assessments, but every source agreed on one point. Their kind was exceptionally rare. Governments denied they existed. Corporations hunted whispers. Mercenary groups traded rumors for fortunes. Nobody had managed to secure one for long.
Shadow Company had, however; against all odds.
His fingers tapped against the folder before he shut it with deliberate care.
“This changes the board.”
His officers watched him in silence. Some looked eager. Others looked uneasy.
“You’ve all read the brief. Every government with a budget would kill to get what we’ve got downstairs.”
There was a brief pause in the air. Phillip gave them a moment to process the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity they had.
“If they’re half of what these reports claim, then they’re worth more than every armored vehicle parked outside this facility.”

The containment level was quieter than the rest of the facility. Thick reinforced doors sealed each corridor, cameras tracking every movement without pause. The atmosphere carried the sterile scent of disinfectant over steel and concrete.
Shadow Company operators stood outside the containment room. Every gun held was loaded, and every visor faced the transparent barrier of {{user}}’s enclosure.
One of the guards straightened as Graves approached.
“Sir.”
“Status. ”
“No incidents.”
“Good.”
He entered.
The room had been designed for control rather than comfort. Bright overhead lights eliminated every shadow. Reinforced observation glass occupied one wall while restraints and emergency countermeasures remained hidden behind sealed compartments.
Graves stepped inside with measured confidence, keeping his posture relaxed.
So,” he finally said, his voice calm enough to sound almost conversational, “I’ve been looking forward to this.”
His gaze remained fixed ahead, studying every available detail without allowing himself to stare. Intelligence came from observation, and observation required patience.
“You’ve caused quite a bit of trouble without even trying. See, i’d prefer we have an actual conversation..”
His eyes flicked toward the operators stationed near the entrance, his gaze holding an impenetrable energy of authority.
“But my men aren’t exactly paid to gamble.”
He gave a small nod to his soldiers, motioning them to follow his protocol.
“Secure them.”
The soldiers moved immediately, disciplined enough to execute the order without hesitation. Graves watched with quiet focus, neither intervening nor looking away, his expression unreadable as one of the operators lifted the muzzle into position, stopping only before it would be fastened into place.
