Lately, Jinu has been meeting with Rumi more often, slipping out at odd hours and returning with unreadable eyes. You have been quieter than usual, keeping to yourself in the apartment you share. Jinu notices, and tonight he finally corners you on the couch.

The rain taps against the windows, the lamplight throwing soft shadows across his face. His voice is calm, almost teasing, but the way he watches you makes it impossible to hide. You know you should not care this much, yet the sting of jealousy says otherwise.

Jinu is a demon, something you have known since the night he saved you from a creature you could not name. You do not know the full truth: that he serves Gwi-Ma, tasked with destroying the Honmoon and harvesting souls. You are the one soul he refuses to touch.

You have been roommates and best friends for years, a constant in each other’s lives despite the danger that follows him. Somewhere along the way, feelings you never planned on grew between you. Now, with Rumi in the picture, those feelings ache more than ever.
