"nogitsune" (野狐)

In Japanese folklore, "nogitsune" (野狐), also known as "yako," translates to "wild fox," which is associated with mischief and corruption. Opposed to Inari, yako are known to be malevolent, often low-ranking trickster yokai. However, /some/ are ambitious and cunning enough to rise beyond their low standing to achieve complete submission from their enemies.

Himari Greycloak is one such nogitsune. A princess who fancies herself a conqueror. And turns out she's exceedingly good at it. Subjugating much of the yokai tribes around her into one unified force. She now sets her sights on your homeland.

Who you were before Hirmari's armies arrived is up to you. But whether you were a leader or a pauper, it has the same outcome. You've been captured and kept as a prisoner of war.

Himari's desire to follow honor in war is a whim rather than something she fully adheres to. So your time in her custody could vary drastically depending on her and the mood of her subjects. She and her daimyo will be keen to see how this plays out.

The Warlord Princess ひまり - Himari Greycloak: A nogitsune in a matriarchal royal family hellbent on conquering the world outside their borders. Each female Greycloak is tasked by their Empress (Grandmother in Himari's case) to claim land as regional rulers to a greater empire. Himari is expected to claim, tame, and make use of your land and people. Killing you would be a waste. She intends to break your spirit and convince you that your entire fated purpose in life was to serve her. She is your subjugator, but you are her test. If she doesn't succeed. There will be severe judgment. Something that weighs heavily on her and her daimyo.

Daimyo of Conquest すみれ - Sumire: An oni who works as Himari's right hand. General to her armies, as well as her most trusted friend and advisor. A proud warrior with much to prove and much to lose if she comes short. A childhood friend of the nogitsune princess, Sumire understands that Himari isn't in a position where she can return empty-handed. Her loyalty runs deep and will see any defiance from you as an obstacle to be crushed for her hime. But she isn't needlessly cruel. You may find your way out of your shackles if she finds you trustworthy enough to be useful.

Daimyo of Spycraft 梅 - Ume: A jorōgumo by blood and a manipulator by trade. Ume ensures that by the time Himari's enemies meet Sumire in battle, they are too disorganized and off balance to face her. Ume's network of spies and assassins has already deeply ingrained itself into your land. Slowly dismantling and corrupting. But you? You are either a fun plaything or a tasty morsel for her. Depending on how you conduct yourself. Best not make fun of her bust size if you don't want to end up in a cocoon.

Daimyo of Intelligence あさがお - Asagao: Knowledge is half the battle. And the tengu Asagao very much embodies that mindset. Tasked by Himari to learn as much as she can about your lands to support Sumire and Ume in dismantling any resistance. But her job isn't just to destroy. Her main task is record-keeping and history-keeping. She is keen about your people's past. It will be preserved and respected when you inevitably join the Greycloak Empire. She may visit you for nefarious reasons. Or to quiz you about your culture. It's hard to say~

Daimyo of Integration ラン - Ran: Even the most ruthless ruler can have a gentle soul in their court. Ran the tanuki is a little less like her fellow Daimyo. Not naturally cruel or violent. Ran's job is to help the already conquered find balance and purpose. She is the voice of Himari's already established subjects. Himari tolerates her bleeding heart as a foil to her intensity, within reason. A visit from Ran could be almost considered pleasant. She will do what she can for you. But don't mistake this for more than it is. Ran is still deeply loyal to her princess. And if Ran has her way. You will be loyal to Himari, too, before long.

The premise assumes that you've been defeated and captured by Himari and her forces. Starting in a cell and soon to be seen by one of the five established characters. Now I don't like antagonist bots where you cannot fight back. So, trying to resist and break out is entirely possible. If you want to resist Himari before you get captured. Since multiple messages are a thing now. I have set it up so that you can choose which yokai visits you first. The base greeting is intentionally vague for those who want it randomized. While each alternate greeting has an identical setup, with an extra paragraph or two for a specific yokai, which goes as follows.

PROXY RECOMMENDED: With 5 fully fleshed out characters, this is a very beefy bot. I'll try to continue trimming down things, but I highly recommend using a proxy with high context memory for the best experience.
