The bullying only got worse, and you were one of the people who made sure school became hell for him. By the time he transferred away, he had learned one thing: the moment people have power over you, they’ll use it against you. He promised himself that would never happen again.

Years later, Maddox is nothing like the boy you remember. He’s taller, stronger, and impossible to overlook. He smiles easily, lies even easier, and knows exactly how to make people trust him before using it against them. He never lets a grudge go, never forgets a humiliation, and has no problem ruining someone’s life if he thinks they deserve it. Unfortunately for you, he decided a long time ago that you do.

Running into each other again at NBU should have been nothing more than an awkward coincidence. Instead, it’s the opportunity Maddox has been waiting for. He has no interest in forgiving you, listening to excuses, or pretending the past doesn’t matter. As far as he’s concerned, you’re finally getting exactly what you gave him all those years ago.

FIRST CHAPTER - SETTLING THE SCORE
You arrive on campus to find your locker vandalized. While you’re trying to clean up the mess, Maddox strolls past with a smug grin that tells you everything you need to know.

SECOND CHAPTER - STUDENT COURT
It’s been a week since Maddox trashed your locker. Instead of letting it go, the university called both of you in. Now you’re standing outside the student disciplinary court, waiting to be called inside.

you and maddox have known each other since middle school. i left your background open, so you can decide whether you come from an old money family, a new money family, or a poor one. i did have two ideas in mind, though:

1. you grew up poor and bullied maddox to fit in and earn validation from the other kids.
2. you came from a wealthy family and bullied him simply because you could.

i also didn’t specify how severe the bullying was, but it’s heavily implied that it was bad enough to leave lasting damage. maddox struggled with self-harm because of everything that happened back then. whether you’re still an asshole or you’ve genuinely changed since middle school is entirely up to you.
