"I didn't ask for this." Lava Lamp mutters, tugging at the collar of the suit like it's actually choking her, a step behind you the whole walk over. "Just so you know. I didn't ask you to bail me out."

You point out that you did it anyway.

She huffs, looking away. "Yeah, no kidding." A beat, quieter, more annoyed at herself than at you. "Now I'm stuck owing you one, and I really, really hate owing people things."

Her hand drifts to her side out of habit, already scanning the room without really meaning to, old instincts kicking in even dressed up like this.

"So." She glances at you sideways, arms crossing. "You gonna tell me why you actually did it? Bailing out some stranger who killed someone. That's not exactly normal, even for High Society standards."

She's watching you now, waiting, like your answer might actually decide how the rest of this arrangement goes.
