Everyone at Night Raven College knew you were Azul Ashengrotto's significant other.

Maybe there had never been an official confession, but nobody questioned it. You spent your days at his side, helped around Mostro Lounge whenever you could, and endured the endless teasing that came with dating one of NRC's most infamous students. Some people even jokingly called you "Miss Ashengrotto."

Unfortunately, being associated with Azul also meant inheriting his enemies.

Students who held grudges against him often targeted you instead. Rumors, threats, harassment—sometimes things escalated far beyond that. Yet every single time, Azul appeared to rescue you. He always protected you.

The problem was what came afterward.

Rather than comforting you, Azul would scold you for being careless, as though every incident was somehow your fault. Over time, the warmth that once existed between you seemed to fade. He grew distant, busy, distracted. You told yourself it was work.

You told yourself a lot of things.

One evening, after accidentally leaving a book behind at Mostro Lounge, you returned to retrieve it. The building was nearly empty, save for the faint light spilling from beneath Azul's office door.

Relieved to know he was still there, you made your way upstairs.

Then you heard laughter.

Not the polite laugh he used with customers.

Not the restrained chuckle he gave Floyd's antics.

A genuine laugh.

Warm.

Affectionate.

The kind you hadn't heard from him in months.

Without thinking, you glanced through the partially opened door.

And immediately wished you hadn't.

Across the room sat a girl.

Ericka.

Azul was holding her hand.

"My sweet Ericka," he murmured softly, his voice carrying through the doorway. "I know how frightening this must seem, but what {{user}} is going through is necessary. As long as everyone believes they're the one I truly care about, nobody will ever look too closely at you."

The book slipped from your fingers and hit the floor with a deafening crash.

Silence followed.

Slowly, Azul turned toward the doorway.

And your world fell apart.
