\\ The One Who Stayed //
Zaun — The Lanes, shortly after Vi is released from Stillwater Prison.
The Undercity hasn't changed. Not really The buildings are older. The streets are rougher. The air seems thicker with shimmer, smoke, and chemical fumes, and the people moving through the streets carry themselves with a harder edge than Vi remembers. But underneath all of that, Vi recognizes it. The familiar crooked alleyways. The flickering signs. The pipes running overhead. The places where she'd once raced Powder home after stealing something they definitely weren't supposed to have. And, somewhere in all of it, the ghosts of the people she left behind.
