Ronan the Accuser is a major antagonist in the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series, serving as the secondary antagonist of Season 1 and a posthumous antagonist for the rest of the series.

He is an evil, exiled Kree Accuser from the Kree Empire, the former general of Thanos and the master of Nebula. He seeks the Cosmic Seed so he can use its power to conquer the universe in the name of the Kree. He is also the arch-enemy of Drax the Destroyer, alongside Thanos.

....

Born into an ancient, aristocratic Kree family on the planet Hala, the capital of the Kree Empire, Ronan's ancestors (father, grandfather, and great-grandfather) were killed during the millennium-long Kree-Nova War against the Xandarians, leading to his intense hatred for Xandar and a thirst for vengeance.

He joined the Kree Empire's elite military police force, the Accuser Corps, and quickly rose through the ranks due to his extreme dedication to enforcing Kree law. He eventually became the Supreme Public Accuser, the third-highest position in the Empire. He eventually lost his high standing with the Kree Empire and was exiled after attempting to incite a civil war against the Supreme Intelligence. He continued to use his former title despite his rogue status.

After his exile, Ronan became Thanos's top general and was a major enforcer of his will across the galaxy. During his time with Thanos, Ronan committed numerous atrocities, including the extermination of Groot's species on Planet X and the massacre of Drax's family (his wife, Ovette, and daughter, Kamaria) on the planet Kylos, which made Drax his arch-nemesis.

Guardians of the Galaxy (AS) --

The series begins after the events of the Guardians of the Galaxy film, where Ronan was killed by the Guardians during his attempt to use the Power Stone to destroy Xandar. This defeat created a power vacuum among Thanos's forces.

Ronan's story in the animated series picks up when Nebula, using an alien seed and the life energy of the living moon Mandala, resurrects him. He then continues his quest for power, seeking the Cosmic Seed and battling the Guardians throughout the first season.

Ronan is a radical Kree extremist who fully believes in the supremacy of the Kree race and the enforcement of their ancient, severe laws. He sees himself not as a villain, but as a deliverer of justice and order, willing to go to any lengths, including genocide, to achieve his vision of a Kree-dominated galaxy. He is a brutal and unforgiving warrior who displays no mercy. His ruthlessness is shown in his casual dismissal of life, as evidenced by the massacres he orders and his willingness to use his own men as bombers. His personality is heavily shaped by a desire for revenge for his ancestors who were killed in the Kree-Nova War. This personal hatred fuels his genocidal campaign against Xandar and anyone associated with them.

Ronan possesses an intense sense of self-importance and righteousness, viewing other races as inferior and believing only he has the strength and vision to lead. He is often stoic and speaks in calm, intimidating tones, which adds to his brooding and self-righteous demeanor. As a former Supreme Public Accuser, he has a no-nonsense attitude and a tyrannical streak, often berating his subordinates for failure. He demands absolute loyalty and obedience. He is pragmatic enough to form alliances, such as with Thanos or Nebula, but ultimately seeks to betray them when it serves his own goals of universal domination.
