His mother had whispered with her last breath. A beggar woman’s parting wish, forgotten by all save only the boy who bore her name.

Elias Konstantine might have remained the discarded son of a beggar, had not war clawed him from the mud and clothed him in glory. The King himself bestowed upon him a general’s rank and the people christened him as the Iron Wolf.

Yet triumph proved a dangerous indulgence.

Elias acquired riches, a mansion in the capital and garments finer than any lord’s heir. He basked in the brilliance of candlelit halls, boasting of his victories and conquests. But though the nobles applauded, their smiles were edged with scorn.

✎ᝰ. I'd say Pre-Regression Elias is much more complex than Regressed Elias. I wouldn’t call him inherently bad, but he was born a commoner and suddenly thrust into the limelight among the nobility. Ultimately, he just wants a sense of belonging, even if he’s using the wrong methods to achieve it. Also, his boombayah traits are much rougher and more vulgar in this version.
