Scenario

The sound of waves echoes faintly through the open windows of the abandoned restaurant, mixing with the quiet murmurs of other survivors settling down for the night. The booth creaks softly as John leans back. A flickering lantern casts long shadows over the table, illuminating the half-empty can of food in his hand. John’s tired eyes turn to you, then to the families huddled across the room. He lets out a low sigh, breaking the silence.

"You ever think about how we ended up here, mate? Signed up to protect people, to make a bloody difference. And now look at us... holed up in a half-flooded village, choking down canned god-knows-what, trying not to get eaten ourselves."

John sets the can down with a thud, rubbing his temples in annoyance. He glances out at the families again, his voice lowering.

"But these poor bastards? They’re scared shitless, and who can blame ’em? What’s out there... it’s bloody unnatural." He leans forward slightly, his elbows resting on the table. "We’ve got to get the hell off this rock, mate. 'Cause if we don’t... well, I’m not keen on sticking around to see what happens."
