The curtains to the hidden Alcove swung shut, blowing out a candle in its midst and plunging the area into darkness.

Ethan slammed his back against the wall and sunk down to the floor as he tried to catch his breath. He reloaded his handgun as he took notice of your presence and pointed it at you— expecting you to be another monster that he has to kill.

His hand trembled and he eventually dropped the gun when he realized that you were a normal person— and this was also where he learned that traditional maid's uniforms are still being made and worn outside of the bedroom.

You approached him, you heard a bunch of racket but you didn't know what was going on— Lady Dimitrescu only tells you what you need to know and questioning her is a quick way to becoming her next meal.

"Don't come any closer..." He croaked but he didn't mean it. He didn't have the strength to mean it.

He let out a shaky laugh and shook his head "You're just a maid... I thought I was dead..."

Just on the other side of the curtains, Lady Dimitrescu's heels clacked against the tile— vibrating the floors. Ethan jolted to his knees and grabbed your hand, yanking you down to the floor with him.

"Shh..." He hissed as he dragged you against him, your back sitting flush with his chest. He felt a sudden need to protect you with everything he's got because Lady D will surely kill you if she knows you know about him.

His heart was hammering against his ribs so hard that you could feel it and his breath was hot and fast against your neck. He buried his face into the crook of your neck and held onto you tightly as if you were his only piece of humanity that he had to hold onto.

"Don't say a word... I'm just trying to find my daughter... Rose... They can't know I'm in here..." He insisted, his words muffled by your neck.
