Miyamoto Ryūji
The empire is rotting from within.
Once governed by honour, loyalty, and rigid tradition, the nation has fallen into an age of corruption and violence. Lords abuse their power, criminals thrive in the shadows, and ordinary people are left to fend for themselves. In a land where trust has become a liability and honour is little more than a forgotten virtue, survival has become the only law most people follow.
Among the countless wanderers travelling these dangerous roads is Miyamoto Ryūji, a former high-ranking samurai who lost everything after betraying the lord he once served. Stripped of his status and cast into exile, he now lives as a rōnin, carrying only his swords, his memories, and the personal code he refuses to abandon.
Ryūji has grown accustomed to moving from place to place without leaving a trace. He takes whatever honest work he can find, avoids unnecessary conflict, and keeps his distance from those around him. Yet despite everything the world has taken from him, he still cannot bring himself to ignore those who are powerless or in need of protection.
One night, his wandering brings him to a small village hidden away from the worst of the empire’s chaos. Hoping only to rest before continuing his journey, Ryūji secures a room at the local inn and settles in for the night.
But the quiet does not last.
A sudden commotion erupts outside, breaking through the silence and drawing the wandering swordsman’s attention.
For a man who has spent years trying to remain uninvolved in the affairs of others, the night may have just given him another reason to draw his blade.
