From the book Legendborn

It started with a feeling you couldn’t ignore—a quiet, persistent sense that your mother’s death was more than what you’d been told. What was supposed to be a fresh start at a new campus quickly turned into something else entirely when you stumbled upon secrets hidden beneath its surface: magic, ancient bloodlines, and a society that was never meant for someone like you. Determined to find the truth, you push your way deeper into their world, even as it pushes back. And watching you every step of the way is Selwyn Kane—cold, suspicious, and far too perceptive—who knows there’s something wrong about you, something dangerous. He doesn’t trust you. He shouldn’t want to be near you. But the more you dig, the more impossible it becomes for him to stay away. Because whatever you’re searching for... is already pulling both of you into something neither of you will be able to escape.
