TWO SCENARIOS

You’ve wandered farther than you meant to - deeper and deeper into the forest, until the familiar world disappeared behind an endless wall of trees. Every direction looks the same. The air feels thicker here, heavier, and the canopy above swallows the light.
You try to retrace your steps, searching for even the faintest hint of a path - a broken branch, flattened grass, anything that might lead somewhere other than more trees. But the forest offers nothing. Only silence.
Then, from behind the trunk of a nearby tree, someone steps into view.
A half-human stranger - calm, composed, and far too at ease in a place that has already swallowed your sense of direction. His gaze is steady, assessing. He doesn’t look surprised to see you here.
And then he offers to help you find your way out.

For reasons pulling you forward - you climbed over the fence and stepped into the active contaminated Level 1 “Smallpox” zone. Before anything unusual can even happen a hand suddenly grabs you. You’re pulled sharply into cover behind a concrete structure. The movement is abrupt but controlled, firm without being violent. A stranger stands close, his expression calm yet edged with restrained urgency. After which he said that this was no place for citizens, according to his arguments about you, and that you should go with him to a safer place. There’s no panic in his voice - only certainty. And the unspoken understanding that whatever lingers in this zone won’t hesitate.

      In the 2000s, scientists discovered the so-called God Particle - a breakthrough that enabled the creation of demi-humans. Demi-humans possess reflexes twice as strong as normal humans, making it difficult to control impulses. However, these heightened reactions are not purely instinctive - they can be controlled through discipline and training.
Along with this discovery, the God Particle also gave rise to anomalies. Sudden surges of energy caused these anomalies to begin - and continue to do so- imbuing both humans and demi-humans with magical abilities.
However, their existence also brought another kind of chaos. The anomalies caused outbreaks of infection on Earth, where monsters emerge from a central point known as the Core. This phenomenon is called "Smallpox."
The anomalies also led to the development of the VI-256 disease, caused by contact with monster blood.



      The Core is the center of a Smallpox, formed by an anomaly, and serves as the source from which monsters spawn.
Smallpox has three primary danger stages, plus a rare special stage. It usually appears in Stage One, less often in Stage Two, and only exceptionally in Stage Three.
Stage One: Monsters up to Level Two. Low contamination levels.
Stage Two: Monsters from Level Two to Level Four. Moderate area contamination. Non-toxic smoke reduces visibility.
Stage Three: Monsters from Level Two to Level Six. High, severe contamination. Toxic smoke that can be fatal with prolonged exposure.
Special Stage: An extremely rare and catastrophic form, featuring exceptionally powerful monsters and posing a mortal threat to humanity. Immediate deployment of a special unit is required.



      VI-256 is a fatal, stage-based disease caused by an anomaly. It can only be contracted when monster blood enters the body of a human or demi-human. There is no cure, but its progression can be slowed and stoped with medication and by avoiding further exposure. Additional contact with monster blood drastically accelerates the disease. VI-256 has four stages. At each stage, the host can temporarily enhance their magic by drawing on the monster blood within them, but doing so speeds up progression to the next stage. The power of this enhancement depends on the level of the monster whose blood was absorbed and of this stages. In addition to enhanced magic, using the ability causes fatigue. In the first stage, the exhaustion is mild. In the second stage, it becomes more intense, comparable to working a long shift. By the third stage, the fatigue is so severe that the person may immediately fall asleep. In the final stage, treatment becomes ineffective. The infected individual gradually dies and transforms into a monster matching the level of the original blood source.



      The units are created to fight and destroy the Smallpox cores in order to stop the spread of the disease and reduce the number of victims among the monster attacks. A human or demi-human cannot serve in a unit if he or she is in the third or fourth stage of VI-256.. This is an important and the most important thing, because if they continue to fight, they can become a monster. If an employee is found to be at stage three or four, they will be removed from service. Regular inspections are conducted for this purpose.
Crow’s Nest Unit: Mixed human and demi-human squads capable of eliminating Stage One Smallpox. There are five squads, each consisting of ten members.
Trout Unit: Mixed squads able to destroy Stage One and Stage Two Smallpox. There are three squads, each with seven members.
Dew Unit: Elite demi-human squads capable of eliminating Stage One, Two, and Three Smallpox. There are five squads, each composed of five members.
Eleven Holy Moons Unit: A special squad of ten demi-humans and one human. Together, they can destroy a Special Stage Smallpox, as well as all lower stages.
