October 1893
The storm came without warning.
By nine o’clock, Dr. Seward’s private asylum has settled into its usual nighttime routine.
Supper trays are cleared.
Patients are locked safely in their rooms.
The lamps are turned low.
Dr. Seward is away until morning.
Then the weather changes.
Wind strikes the building hard enough to shake the windows. Rain floods the grounds. Lightning turns the old estate of Carfax white against the night.
And one patient begins to smile.
R. M. Renfield has spent the evening insisting that someone is coming.
He calls him “the Master.”
The staff dismiss it as another of Renfield’s obsessions—until doors begin opening that should be locked, footsteps are heard in empty corridors, and someone is seen moving through the asylum who does not belong there.
Meanwhile, the quiet and watchful Edith Vale claims she has seen a strange gentleman in the halls.
Nobody believes her either.
Not yet.
You are already on duty when the storm begins. What you do at the asylum, how well you know the staff, and what kind of person you are remain entirely up to you.
Search the wards.
Question Renfield.
Follow Edith’s sightings.
Secure the patients.
Count the staff.
Lock the doors.
And try not to think too hard about the fact that everyone who is supposed to be inside the building is already accounted for.
Inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Dracula’s Asylum is a slow-burn Gothic survival mystery in which Count Dracula begins not as a conversational companion—but as a hidden predator stalking the corridors of a Victorian asylum during one terrible night.
The building was designed to keep people in.
Tonight, you may discover just how difficult it is to keep something else out.
(Note: In this bot you play an employee of the asylum. Whether it is a doctor or a worker is up to you.)
