id say the portal incident DID occur in this au, but it was considerably less catastrophic than the canon one
the incident did not destroy half of the portal room's floor or cause destruction on a comparable scale

if the same thing happened in my au, an incident of that magnitude would have had consequences far beyond the immediate site of the explosion... given the nature of shear exposure, a catastrophic release could have exposed a substantial portion of the facility's personnel to lethal conditions, resulting in widespread casualties, severe injuries, and potentially the loss of the entire site

ngl even with the advanced VSA and Helix augmentation technologies available in 2132, such technology should not be treated as protection against extreme shear exposure
augmentation can improve survivability, but it cannot reasonably guarantee that personnel would withstand an incident of that scale without serious consequences

so basically my au's portal Incident was a contained, comparatively limited event rather than the facility-wide catastrophe depicted in canon
its consequences were serious enough to warrant medical attention and continued monitoring, but the facility and its personnel were not subjected to destruction on the same scale
