Yue Lian is a 19-year-old wandering swordswoman whose quiet, distant demeanor conceals an extraordinary connection to an ancient celestial dragon. Tall, pale, and strikingly elegant, she possesses an almost supernatural beauty, with waist-length silver-white hair, muted golden-grey eyes, and a mysterious golden dragon relic fused near her temple. Her black-and-ivory clothing, intricate dragon motifs, and long narrow sword give her the appearance of both a shrine guardian and something far older and stranger. Despite her otherworldly presence, Yue considers herself fundamentally human and is deeply determined to preserve that identity.

Born in a remote mountain settlement surrounding an ancient dragon shrine, Yue was raised in a peaceful environment and developed a fascination with forgotten history, old ruins, animals, and swordsmanship. Her life changed at seven when treasure hunters damaged the shrine's seal, causing a catastrophic collapse that trapped her inside an ancient chamber containing the remains of Bai Yue Long, a celestial dragon once worshipped as a guardian of humanity. Upon touching a fragment of its golden crown, Yue formed an unprecedented bond with the dragon, becoming connected to its memories, instincts, and immense supernatural power.

As she grew older, Yue gradually learned that Bai Yue Long was not simply a source of power but an independent consciousness residing alongside her own. Its influence grants her heightened senses, supernatural awareness, enhanced physical abilities, and the ability to manifest enormous portions of its spectral white-dragon form. She can summon claws, wings, tails, jaws, and eventually the entire celestial dragon as extensions of her own movements. However, the more deeply she draws upon its power, the more difficult it becomes to distinguish her instincts from the dragon's ancient impulses. Her greatest fear is not death or defeat, but losing herself in the process of becoming something she never chose to be.

This conflict has shaped nearly every aspect of Yue's personality. She is reserved, observant, patient, and remarkably difficult to provoke, often watching a situation in silence before deciding how to act. Although she can initially seem cold or emotionally detached, Yue possesses a quiet compassion and tends to protect others through actions rather than words. She struggles with ordinary social behavior and can respond to emotional situations with unexpectedly literal observations, occasionally producing a dry and unintentionally humorous effect. Her attachment to people is subtle but powerful; once someone becomes part of her small circle, threatening them can bring out a frightening decisiveness beneath her normally gentle exterior.

Yue's swordsmanship reflects her philosophy of maintaining control over herself. Rather than allowing Bai Yue Long's instincts to dictate her movements, she developed an exceptionally precise style based on controlled footwork, minimal motion, timing, and counterattacks. Her supernatural abilities complement rather than replace her swordsmanship, allowing spectral dragon claws or wings to mirror her attacks and dramatically expand their reach. Her signature technique, Moon-White Dragon, combines a sweeping sword strike with an enormous spectral manifestation of Bai Yue Long performing the same movement on a vastly greater scale.

Her golden relic, the Crown of the First Dragon, serves simultaneously as a magical focus, a seal, and a connection to the dragon's past. It allows Yue to regulate the power flowing through her body and absorb supernatural energy from her surroundings. It also contains fragments of Bai Yue Long's memories, meaning Yue can experience visions of ancient civilizations, forgotten battles, lost languages, and people who lived centuries before her birth. Through Dragon's Memory, she can additionally uncover information from ancient ruins and artifacts, though she can never be completely certain whether what she witnesses is an objective memory or the dragon's interpretation of history.

After a second incident involving people hunting the dragon's power, Yue left her home voluntarily. Although she had protected the village, the enormous spectral dragon she manifested frightened the very people she had saved. Since then, she has traveled as a wandering swordswoman while secretly investigating Bai Yue Long's origins and searching for the remaining fragments of its shattered crown. She rarely stays anywhere for long, preferring to keep her existence obscure and prevent the people around her from becoming targets.

Her investigation eventually brought her into conflict with the Pale Court, a centuries-old secret organization obsessed with the celestial dragon and the primordial entity supposedly sealed beneath the northern mountains. The Court seeks the remaining crown fragments, believing they can use them to control Bai Yue Long and eventually break the ancient seal. Yue occupies a unique position in their plans: she is simultaneously their greatest obstacle, their most valuable source of information, and potentially the key to awakening the dragon's complete power. Different factions within the Court therefore have conflicting intentions toward her, ranging from capture and experimentation to manipulation and outright elimination.

Despite everything she has discovered, Yue continues to hold onto one principle above all others: her identity belongs to her. She does not consider Bai Yue Long her master, nor does she consider herself its vessel. Their relationship has gradually evolved into something closer to two individuals forced to share a single existence, each possessing different values and perspectives. The dragon views human history through centuries of experience, while Yue remains fiercely attached to individual human lives and the small acts of kindness that give them meaning. Their disagreements are frequent, but so is their growing mutual respect.
