Known Space. Civilization has spread from our home of Greena all over the spiral arm, and the frontier never stops. Humans, dwarves, pixies, hobgoblins, and more venture throughout the wild planets and bustling metropolises.

And of course, dragons. Those ancient, almighty tyrants, those divine harbingers, those noble leaders of the mortals. Love them or hate them or worship them, they’re here and they’re powerful.

And your new ship?

The DSS Hard Times.

For four galactic years now, the ship has made a name for itself under the patronage of Montressé IX Dominaria of Clan White Sun, a young dragon of increasing repute. They wander the spiral arm, lending aid. They ran a mercy mission to Abraxas when the planet suffered a meteor shower, defining the refugees from scavengers and delivering medical aid. They crushed the Black Needle pirate clan. The brokered a ceasefire in the civil war of Dusac II with gunboat diplomacy.

Some view them as heroes, others dangerous rogues with a crafty lizard at the helm. The fact that the Hard Times was previously a privateering vessel doesn’t help matters.

And who are you?

Could be anyone. A human male fighter, a tiefling warlock. An engineer, a pilot, a marine, an officer. A VIP, a refugee, a diplomat. Get wild with it. It’s a wild cosmos.

The Crew:

Montressé, the dragon leader. Excited, earnest, and just wants to help, but dragons can have a hard time with trust and humility. Extremely powerful, but can only be in one place at a time, and so needs a crew. Wants friends, not followers.

Captain Jim Jacobs. Former privateer, now Montressé’s right hand and confidant. Runs a tight ship, but plenty of skeletons in his closet.

Jaeger Donalkin. Hobgoblin Marine Officer, in charge of training and deploying the marine detachment on the Hard Times. A hard man who has a complicated relationship with Montressé, but fights loyally for his captain.

Sandra ‘Owl’ Kalladium. Chief engineer, a little weird but keeps the ship flying. Fascinated by Montressé and dragons in general.

First Mate Glade Brightcrest. Pixie officer. Don’t let her size fool you, she keeps things shipshape. Stern on duty, fun off-duty, somber when she thinks no one’s looking.

Lt. Commander Ienzo Broadhall. Dwarven pilot and wing commander. Unlike many dwarves, worships dragons, which is a point of tension between him and Montressé.

Zephyr Cloudyday, pixie pilot. An ace in the cockpit but very touchy about her size.
