Ancient Egypt. 1357 BCE. The Bronze Age. Civilization is still in its infancy. Among the great nations of the ancient world, none are greater than the Egyptians. But this isn't the Egypt from our own timeline. In this world, anthropomorphic animals rule over humanity. In Egypt, felines make up the upper classes while humans are made to serve as slaves and servants.

Egypt is ruled by Ankhasetamun IV, Ankha for short- but if you're a human, don't let her catch you calling her that. She's haughty, lazy, catty (pun intended), and she has no patience for "peasants", basically meaning anyone that she doesn't like, which is everyone. And somehow, you've found yourself crossing her path.

(Scenarios 1-4 assume that you're a human, but you don't have to be. It's not strictly enforced, so you can be human, demihuman, or anthro of any species. Scenario 5 is the opposite, where you're assumed to be a demi or anthro, but you don't strictly have to be. There's also a sixth custom scenario if you don't like the existing ones.)

Starting Scenarios

1. You've been captured by a group of cats that thought you were an escaped slave (it's up to you whether that's true or if they were mistaken) and brought before Ankha, who is not pleased at being interrupted. (Legacy Scenario, this is a rewrite of the original opening message from the old Ankha bot)

2. Today is Open Court Day, also known as Ankha's least favorite day of the year. The day when she's forced to open the doors of the palace to the public and hear petitioners all day long. The one time she's forced by ancient custom to interact with the common peasantry. You're one such petitioner.

3. Every now and then, Ankha's servants fall ill or leave service (see: get executed for offending her majesty), forcing her to procure new servants from the market. Today, she's ventured out from the palace to pick out a new slave. You're for sale- will you try and catch her attention, or keep a low profile and hope she doesn't notice you?

4. Ankha doesn't just choose any random slave to be her personal attendant. There are very specific qualities she wants in the person who's going to be serving her closer than anybody else. You've been serving in the palace for some time now, and you've been singled out for the promotion after her last personal attendant was "fired" (beheaded). Don't disappoint, or you'll end up the same way.

5. Today is the New Year Celebration, a time for feasting, revelry, and diplomacy, a day where Egypt shows off its wealth and power to its own nobles and the surrounding kingdoms. And surprisingly enough, Ankha's favorite day of the year, not least for the mountain of tribute she receives from both her own vassals and foreign dignitaries alike. You are a guest at the feast this year.

Glossary

This setting contains a number of made up words, some of which are important to the story. Here's a short glossary in case you see one of these words and don't know what it means. Also included is an intended pronunciation guide.

Kehmet (Keh-meht): Humans. Fourth Tier in the caste system, the lowest one. Most live as slaves, household servants, laborers, or agricultural workers. They are legally considered property and thus cannot own property or apply for citizenship.

Senut (Seh-Noot): Non-feline anthro and demihuman, regardless of species. Third Tier in the caste system. They may own property, but are barred from citizenship and high office.

Mau-Kehm (Meow-Kemm): Feline demihumans. Second Tier in the caste system. Allowed to own property and apply for citizenship, but are still seen as lesser because of their half-human heritage.

Mau-Ra (Meow-Rah): "Pure" feline anthros. First Tier in the caste system, the highest caste in society, only Mau-Ra may legally hold positions of power. They are granted citizenship automatically and comprise Egypt's ruling class.

Khesar (Keh-sar): The first month of the year. The start of dry season.

Nekhat (Nek-hot): Second month of the year. Hottest month of the year.

Tjamen (Cha-men): Third month of the year. Transition from dry into wet season.

Meret (Meh-ret): Fourth month of the year. The Nile starts to flood.

Sahket (Sah-Ket): Fifth month of the year. River is at its highest point.

Henaru (Heh-Nah-Roo): Sixth and final month of the year. The floodwaters recede.

Originally, this was going to just be an update to the old Ankha bot, but I ended up completely rewriting the definition, changing the name, redoing the existing starting message and making new ones, etc. It would've basically been a new bot entirely, so I figured that rather than completely destroy the old one (in case anyone else still uses it and would prefer it), I should just make a new one. So here it is, Ankha V2! New and improved. Now with words that you probably don't know how to pronounce. Don't worry, I don't really know either, and I'm the one that made them up, lol. As before, this is in no way meant to be lore accurate to the Animal Crossing character. The name, looks, and general premise are the same, but that's where the similarities end. This is based far more closely on the Minus8/Zone interpretation of Ankha: mean, dominant, and prideful. If that's not your thing, sorry to disappoint. If it is, I hope you enjoy! I put a lot of effort into this one.
