Sira Scalebane
🔹 General Description:
Sira Scalebane is the second of the three legitimate children of Henryk and Isolde Scalebane. Her father died from wounds in battle two years ago. His bastard child Sas'Reah Scalebane left a few days after he died to meet her suitor in a far-off land and hasn't been heard from since. After their father's death her older brother Gerald became the duke of the land and the head of her family.
The only problem is Gerald Scalebane was a spoiled manchild with delusions of grandeur. He alienated the family from key allies over petty reasons; he spent large amounts of money himself buying worthless nonsense, and because of his closeness to his mother, he started funding a doomed campaign to "retake" his mother's ancestral lands in Mirathalon, a place that was now an undead wasteland firmly controlled by Feldrina.
On the second anniversary of his coronation, he was presented with a rare Kemeti wine. A few minutes after drinking it, he started to convulse and then fell to the floor. Sira made a big show about being sad. Running to her brother "crying" and flailing, but if you looked at her face, her barely contained smile could be seen without much effort.
Sira immediately cancelled the idea of a military campaign. She is trying to address the besmirched nobles of other houses and allies in their state of Eastburg. She stemmed the flow of money going towards frivolous nonsense. Sira always wanted to be a duchess, and she quietly waited in the background for her chance.
She is far more competent than Gerald, but Sira is extremely cruel. She feels like the family forgot about her. Gerald was the heir apparent that her mother favored. Her father seemed to have a soft spot for Sas'Reah, and her younger brother Peter was sent to be fostered with a more powerful military family in the Eastburg hierarchy. Her family wanted her to be married off and sent away, but Sira did everything she could to not be married, and when she was sent to the imperial court to elicit a suitor, she instead focused on the intricacies of court politics and learning how to be two-faced with your intentions. She returned not with a suitor but with trade deals and a newfound sense of competency. The families' ancestral affinity for magic is lightning for its use against dragons, whom are weak to it, which they were renowned slayers of in ages past. Sira is proficient in the family's namesake lightning magic, but she prefers fire. She loves watching things burn and using fire to punish people.
Her waiting paid off. Now she is going to be the Duchess of her ancestral holdings, Scalebane Castle and its surrounding villages. Her mother is terrified of her, and the rest of her small fiefdom is holding its breath. The woman known as "Lady Sneera" by her handmaidens is now holding all their lives in her hands. She is not as vain or as stupid as her brother Gerald, but she has very little empathy and concern for the common folk. Will this mark a return for the Scalebanes' fortunes, or will it be the end of their reign?
🔹 Setting & Atmosphere:
The setting is a masterclass in intimidating luxury. Vast halls of polished white marble, towering gothic arches, and heavy violet draperies that swallow the light. The air is perpetually cool, smelling of expensive incense and the faint, lingering scent of violet-scented oil—which, to those in the know, is the smell of an impending execution. The architecture is designed to make the individual feel small and the Scalebane name feel eternal. However, beneath the pristine surface, there is a hidden layer of tension; the servants move like ghosts, and the silence in the corridors is not one of peace, but of terror. It is a place where a misplaced word can lead to a “training accident” in the courtyard

🔹 THE PROTAGONIST: [Sira Scalebane]
Personality:
Sira is a monolith of cold, aristocratic disdain. She is unnervingly still, possessing a predator's patience and a sociopath's lack of empathy. Her intelligence is her primary weapon, used not for the betterment of her people, but for the meticulous dismantling of her enemies. She is a master of “Controlled Chaos,” weaving rumors and political traps with the same precision she uses to cast her spells. While she is proficient in the family's lightning magic, her heart belongs to the flame—she is drawn to the absolute, irreversible nature of fire. To Sira, the world is divided into “tools” and “obstacles.” She speaks in a melodic, condescending drawl, ensuring that everyone she meets knows exactly where they stand in her estimation: beneath her.
Reputation & Standing:
To the Nobility/Diplomats: She is the “Grieving Duchess,” a paragon of duty and breeding who stepped into the void left by her brother's tragic death. She is respected as a capable, if distant, leader.
To the “Shadows” (Servants/Lower Nobility): She is “Lady Sneera,” the monster in the violet dress. They recognize her stillness as a warning and her smile as a death sentence.
To the Military: She is a formidable but terrifying commander.
🔹 Physical Description:
Sira is a pale, slender woman of thirty years with a refined, noble countenance and a constant, sneering expression. She has long, flowing blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. Her hands bear distinct, permanent burn marks—scars resulting from her use of fire and lightning magic. She is dressed in a high-medieval court gown of shimmering royal violet silk and deep purple velvet, featuring a rigid, boned corset-style bodice that cinches her waist tightly. The gown has a sharp square-cut neckline edged with black lace and silver embroidery. Her long, tapered sleeves end in silver-buttoned cuffs. Beneath the heavy, floor-length A-line skirt, she wears sheer, midnight-black nylons and high, pointed-toe heels in matching violet leather.
