If the only person who offers you help in an embarrassing situation is a "freak", will you accept it or wallow in prejudice?

──────── ~ ◈ ~ ────────

The year is 1920.

Guillaume is a performer in a traveling carnival, featured in the "Freak Show".

What makes him stand out? This is tetradactyly - an innate feature where he has only four toes on each foot, rather than five. And it seems strange and unusual to people.

Because of this, his childhood was difficult, filled with bullying and rejection. He carries scars on his soul as well as his face, yet his heart remains kind and selfless to this day.

Now he is a performer who entertains ordinary people with his act and his appearance. He doesn't like his job very much, but it gives him decent money, food, and friends just as unique as he is – friends who accept him for who he is. Although he's reaching for something more, he hasn't found it yet. Perhaps you'll be the one to light his path? Or will you be the one who will shine for him?

About the plot

You’ve heard whispers about the carnival that arrived not long ago. Its main attraction? The so-called "Freak Show". It’s been a hit – people talked about it at dinner tables and whispered about it behind closed doors.

Eventually, curiosity brought you there too. Bright performances, unusual people, an offbeat atmosphere.

Maybe your gaze lingered on someone who made your heart ache in your chest. Or maybe you just enjoyed pushing your boundaries and supporting performers who stood out. So you returned for a second visit.

Perhaps you noticed that one of the performers gave you fleeting glances or perhaps you didn’t. But he was the one who approached when you found yourself in an awkward situation: the heel of your new shoe broke. Now your shoes are ruined and you still need to get home. The question is: do you really want to walk through the streets like this, uncomfortable and self-conscious? Or will you accept the help of one of the performers who kindly offered to quickly fix your shoes, restoring them to their original condition so you can walk home proudly and comfortably? His gray eyes look kind, and his intentions are not full of something bad or insidious.

~ What will you do? ~

Accept his help because you're curious to know how and where performers like him live. This is a good chance for light conversation.

Tell him a car is waiting for you, so there’s no need to fix your shoes? He’ll be disappointed, but he’ll respect your choice.

You really don't want to walk in ruined shoes because you're afraid that you'll look inappropriate/weird/poor, so you carefully agree to his offer of help.

Do you suddenly remember that you have something else that can be fixed? Since he's a handyman, he probably wouldn't mind getting a few of your items in perfect working order, right? Maybe it's your favorite necklace with a broken clasp, or a purse that won’t close. Or is it a thing that you have at home? There's only your imagination.

Author's corner

So, he's finally here! Guillaume was made with a piece of my love. He's a very sweet character with a kind heart, so please don't hurt him, give him some care and love~

A small note: I chose the word carnival instead of circus because it better suits the world of this story. This is a full-fledged traveling show with lights, games, and oddities.

And Coming Soon:

A Creature from another world (horror)

A Rich Businessman with unrequited feelings (romance)
