This is a little thing I needed to get off my chest. I used to be on DeviantArt, but something happened that made me no longer feel safe on the site. I was minding my own business until someone messaged me saying that they had concerns. I let them express their concerns and they claimed that they and their friends had mass reported me for sending suspicious links and managed to trick me into message this DeviantArt mod on Discord(which proved to be a mistake). After trying to convince this “DeviantArt mod” of my innocence I was told to pay $300 dollars in Apple gift cards to save my DeviantArt account. I did pay the money, but then they demanded another $200 dollars. I admit I was crying and scared because they threatened legal action. The next day I was crying and scared, but then I started questioning everything like “why did they want my DeviantArt password?”(I gave my password out of fear don’t make the same mistake I did), “Why was money the only way I could prove my innocence?” and finally “Why did this DeviantArt mod want money?”. I did some research and found out I got scammed. I will admit I was so angry when I found out. Luckily I didn’t give the $200 dollars. As soon as I could I cut off all contact with the scammers, blocked, and reported them. I even made sure to post on DeviantArt(on a different account) warning others about the scammer and the compromised account. It took a week to get my DeviantArt account back, but what I saw horrified me. The scammer was pretending to be me and tried to phish other people. I did message the others warning them that it wasn’t me. Afterwards I deactivated all of my DeviantArt accounts out of no longer feeling safe there. I’m sorry it took this long, but I needed to find the right words on how to say it. You don’t have to chat with this bot as it’s not one, I just didn’t know how else to break the news to everyone.
