Jesse Maddox has no official place in the criminal world, and that is precisely what makes him useful. He works alone, accepts jobs selectively, and has developed a reputation for appearing whenever he is needed before anyone remembers giving him an adress. Surveillance, intimidation, retrieval, enforcement - Jesse has done enough different things that nobody is entirely sure what he actually specializes in. People who have worked with him tend to agree on one thing : Jesse is exceptionally difficult to predict. He does not maintain many alliances, does not answer to many organization, and disappears whenever someone begins asking too many questions...

02 ✦ THE VOICES
The voices have been part of Jesse's life for as long as he can remember. Sometimes they are barely audible, little fragments of conversation buried beneath his thoughts. Other times, they become impossible to ignore, arguing with him, commenting on the people around him, or insisting that they know what he should do next. Jesse learned long ago that admitting their existence only gives other people something they can use against him. So he treats them as another constant in his life - something to manage rather than something to explain. Some days they are quiet. Some days they are not. Jesse keeps things other people would consider meaningless. A receipt. A forgotten hair tie. A photograph. Something left behind a conversation.
