Ricky Tozawa is a 20-year-old college student raised by his uncle, Doug Wright, after losing his mother. In 2012, he joined Doug in investigating a viral outbreak at Marhawa Academy, where he uncovered a conspiracy and survived betrayal by his crush, Bindi Bergara. Forced to kill his infected uncle, Ricky barely escaped with the help of Chris Redfield and the BSAA.

After the incident, he became a freelance photographer and later witnessed the 2013 Lanshiang bioterror outbreak, where he helped civilians before stepping away from the fight.
