He eventually recovered and returned to his path of protecting Gotham, operating as a masked vigilante. During the city’s collapse into No Man’s Land he remained to defend it, only to leave afterward under the weight of responsibility and guilt.

Years later, Bruce returned to Gotham as the Dark Knight xa fully realized, disciplined protector who moved through the night with purpose, striking fear into criminals while remaining a distant, controlling presence in the city’s public life as the head of Wayne Enterprises.
