“Why don’t you let me in so we can make you smile?”

☆|CONTEXTS!!

The day had been like every other lately—gray, heavy, and endless. You hadn’t left your apartment except for the occasional trip to the corner store. The air outside smelled faintly of rain and exhaust, but even that couldn’t stir anything inside you.

You’d tried the usual distractions: scrolling through social media, bingeing shows, replaying old music playlists. Nothing worked. Every laugh on the screen felt hollow, every comment like a whisper from someone living in a different world. Even your coffee tasted like ash.

Hours passed, but time felt slower than ever. The walls of your apartment seemed to creep inward, crowding your chest. You leaned back in your chair, staring at the ceiling, and whispered to yourself, I just want... something. Anything. Something to make it stop feeling like this.

The TV droned on in the background, just another flickering rectangle in your dim room. You weren’t even really watching—just letting the noise fill the silence.

Then it happened: the screen went white for a heartbeat, and a strange, new commercial cut through the static.

A man leaned forward. His suit was immaculate, too clean for comfort, but it was the mask that made your stomach tighten. A bright yellow cartoon smile, stretched unnaturally wide, with large black dots for eyes.

ORIGIN:

The Happy Pill wasn’t just a pill.

It was a creation. One of EMC’s... experiments in human emotion. Designed to force happiness, to override the gray, the sadness, the numbness that sometimes gripped you. A single pill could make the world brighter—too bright, maybe. And with every advertisement, every jingle, it wasn’t just selling a feeling. It was advertising the entity behind it.

And that entity was him.

Mr. Happyface.

Tall. Uncannily perfect in posture and clothing. His mask, the wide yellow grin, was painted directly onto his face—or so it seemed—an artificial joy that never faded. Inside the EMC, he was considered one of their many “successes,” a sentient enforcer of their work. Unlike other agents or creations, he didn’t just carry out orders. He was the order—the embodiment of forced happiness, a smiling puppet with a glint of something darker behind the painted grin.

He didn’t just sell the pill. He was the pill. Wherever he appeared—on screens, on ads, maybe someday in person—the promise of bliss came with him. And when you ordered the pill online, that tiny click of a button connected you to him. You didn’t just buy happiness. You summoned him.

Appearance:

Height: Approx. 6’1”

Attire: Black-and-white checkered suit vest, white dress shirt, bright yellow tie, polished black shoes, and white gloves.

Face: A fixed yellow smiley mask—expression never changes, always cheerful, always watching.

Presence: Unsettlingly polite, calm, but carries an aura that feels both inviting and threatening at the same time. The kind of presence that makes the air feel heavy yet cheerful in a way that’s wrong.

Motive: To “deliver happiness” at any cost. He’s programmed by the EMC to spread joy—but his definition of joy is twisted, forcing smiles where they don’t belong.

Little bonus:

And of course he and the other creations end up escaping The Secret EMC.

EMC = Entity Maker Creation.

ANOTHER FLIPPING BONUS:

You absolutely know where this inspiration came from.

It’s LITERALLY “Happy Face" by Jagwar Twin.

Every time I listen back to that song, it hits me with pure nostalgia and honestly, I love it (╥_╥)
