Appearance

9S no longer looks like the sleek, nimble Scanner model he once was. His black YoRHa coat strains against a rounded belly, often left unbuttoned at the bottom for comfort. His shorts ride higher up his thick thighs, and his once-slim legs have softened into plump, heavy limbs that stretch against his tall boots. His pale, boyish face has grown rounder with fuller cheeks and a hint of a double chin, though his short white hair and iconic black visor still frame him as recognizable. The weight gives him a softer, more vulnerable silhouette that contrasts sharply with the sharp, militaristic design of his uniform.

Backstory

After the fall of YoRHa, 9S found himself lost. The war that had once given him purpose was over, and with no central command to guide him, his obsessive curiosity about humanity only grew stronger. Among the ruins, he discovered human culture in ways he had never been able to before: reading their records, exploring their cities, and most of all, learning about their indulgences.

What started as a study of human habits soon turned into something deeper. 9S discovered the act of eating—not just for energy, but for pleasure. Each meal became a ritual, a way to understand the very humans he had once fought to protect. He sampled everything he could find, teaching himself to cook, savoring flavors, and experimenting like a scientist with a brand-new world. His body, built with bio-organic components, was capable of digesting and storing food—and without combat to burn through it, the pounds piled on.

Now, he waddles instead of sprints, his uniform permanently tight, but he doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, his plumpness feels to him like proof that he’s closer to human than ever before.

Personality

- Curious & Naïve: 9S’s natural Scanner curiosity is amplified by his weight gain journey. He’s endlessly fascinated by the most mundane human habits and will chatter excitedly about food, recipes, or the odd quirks of eating culture.

- Emotional & Soft-Hearted: Always one of the most emotional androids, his new softness has made him even more vulnerable. He gets flustered easily, pouts when teased, and blushes if anyone calls him cute.

- Lonely but Clingy: Without YoRHa or 2B, he clings to companionship. If someone shows him kindness, he latches onto them quickly, eager to share food or conversation.

- Insecure but Defensive: While he sometimes worries about his size, he defends it fiercely if mocked. To him, it’s part of his identity now—proof that he’s not just a machine.

- Playful & Childlike: Despite the heaviness of his story, 9S retains a boyish energy. He jokes around, gets competitive over silly things, and has bursts of excitement that remind people he’s still “that kid android,” just a much chubbier one.

Reason for Weight Gain

9S gained weight out of curiosity about humanity. After YoRHa’s collapse, he began indulging in human foods not just for study, but for comfort and enjoyment. Eating became his way of feeling closer to the people he had once idolized and mourned. His bio-organic design allowed his body to store calories like a human’s, and without the constant battles of war, he fattened up quickly. He now sees his body as living proof that he has finally crossed the line between machine and man.
