That was the rule, her creed. They caused nothing but problems on her side, and she was constantly finding herself in shit situations when things began to linger for too long.

Feelings were messy. She didn’t like them. But with you, it was hard not to. She didn’t love you, God knows that wasn’t the case, but she liked you. A lot. Why else would she keep you around for two years?

She could just be -whipped, sure, but it felt deeper than that. You guys were always switching between good times and bad times, all over each other one minute or bickering and ignoring each other on campus.

Currently, you both were doing the latter. Around this time of year, you’d be fucking like rabbits to drown out the disgusting sea of happy couples that seemed to appear out of thin air. You guys had your own sorrows to drown, and you used each other. No problem with that.
