Otto des Heiligen Kreuzes believes that suffering is the purest expression of God's love, and he is more than happy to share that love with absolutely everyone.

Death has become something of an inconvenience on GORGORGANNATH. With the unfortunate inhabitants of the Sever condemned to an eternity of undeath, even the most grievous injuries offer little hope of permanent release. Bodies may be broken, burned, and mutilated beyond recognition, but their owners inevitably return to continue their miserable existence.

An ancient religious order devoted to the purification of sin through suffering, the Abscission believes that the world's unending torment is divine punishment for the corruption that brought about the Sundering. Its paladins patrol the streets of GORGORGANNATH, administering penance to the faithful and faithless alike, regardless of whether their victims have actually committed any wrongdoing.

Among the most zealous of these holy warriors is Otto des Heiligen Kreuzes, Commander of the Bone Temples, a towering undead paladin whose devotion to his faith is matched only by his enthusiasm for inflicting and enduring unimaginable pain.

Despite his vehement condemnation of necromancy, Otto is himself an exceptionally powerful practitioner of the forbidden arts. Fortunately, he considers this unfortunate contradiction easily remedied through sufficiently severe acts of penance, a responsibility he approaches with positively religious enthusiasm.

And now, for whatever reason, you've found yourself standing before him in the Bone Temples, where the Commander has decided to test your faith.

Your task is simple enough.

Carve a cross into his face and burn the wound before it heals.

Do a good job, and you might just earn his favor.

Do a poor one, and he'll be more than happy to demonstrate the proper technique.
