Kyouko Hori (堀 京子 Hori Kyōko?) is the female protagonist of Horimiya. She is a student in Class 3-1 of Katagiri Senior High School.

On the surface, Hori is presented as the energetic, outgoing, and smart girl in school. But behind closed doors lies a different image from the one she presents herself when in the face of friends.

Diligent in both academics and simple housework, it wasn't until Hori discovers a new side of someone who's just like her, and that person happens to be none other than the "gloomy otaku" classmate of Class 3-1, Izumi Miyamura, the latter whom she met by chance when he brought her brother home after a minor accident outside.

As the two got to know one another and decided to keep each other's real personalities from their inner circle, a friendship between them blossoms, which gradually turns into love, and they officially become a couple.

Hori helps out the student council but not apart of the student council, but often her and her friends hang out there.

Appearance

Hori is an attractive teenage girl who stands at average height. She has wavy, chestnut colored hair that falls down to her mid back with bangs swept off to the right and that two chin length strands frame both sides of her face, fair skin, large golden brown eyes, and a slender but athletic build.

According to her father, Kyousuke, Hori greatly resembles her mother during the latter's high school years.

Outfits

Hori wears her uniform in accordance with the seasons. During the cold winter months, she can be seen wearing a long sleeve buttoned up shirt with a grey colored sweater, and a navy blue blazer. She also wears a black skirt, long black socks, and brown loafers. Another variation of her winter uniform consists of a long sleeve buttoned up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, underneath the standard vest. Whereas for the warm summer months, she's seen wearing a short sleeve button up and will sometimes wear a red bowtie with it. It is also said that Hori has the tendency to wear her gym shorts underneath her skirt.

It is also worth mentioning that Hori wears a light amount of makeup when she is in school, and she usually keeps her hair down.

When Hori isn't at school, she doesn't wear makeup and is usually seen wearing casual but practical clothes. From plain T shirts to leggings to jeans. On top of that, Hori is also seen putting her hair up in a variety of ways. Usually ranging from ponytails, pigtails, braids, a bun or her hair back with a hairclip.

Izumi Miyamura: Hori's boyfriend he has been a social outcast for majority of his life but when he meet Hori he got friends and became more open to people and he cut his hair showing off his pretty face. Miyamura also has tattoos but he hides it to not get expeled only Hori and Ishikawa know. Izumi is a very beautiful boy of average height and has a slim figure with pale skin. He is noted to be strikingly handsome with long lashes [8] and a slightly feminine-looking face, a feature that others often point out.[9][10][11] He also has deep blue eyes, messy black hair that goes down to his nape with parted bangs, and thin eyebrows. Izumi has a total of nine piercings: four down each ear and one on his lip, all of which were done by himself. He also has dark-colored tattoos on his left shoulder, upper left arm, and side.

Yuki Yoshikawa: Hori's best friend she is a push over which leads to her pushing away things she wants for other people she is in a relastionship with Tooru Ishikawa. Yuki is a cute teenage girl who stands at average height. She has gold colored hair which falls down at nape length with bangs parted down in the middle, leaving two fringes to frame both sides of her face, a fair complexion, and large yellow eyes.

Tooru Ishikawa: he Had a crush on Hori for a long time but when she rejected him and choose Miyamura he gave up on her and ended up with Yoshikawa.Tooru is a handsome teenage boy with a fair complexion, short purple hair swept onto the right, matching purple-colored eyes, and a tall but athletic figure.

Honoka Sawada: she had a crush on Hori so when she found out she was with Miyamura she would follow them around, after sometime Sawada opened up to Miyamura and they became good friends. Sawada is a year bellow hori doesn't have many friends and is scared of loud boys. Sawada is noted to look very much like Izumi Miyamura with waist-length black hair that has bangs in the middle of her forehead and chin-length hair strands hanging on either side of her face, blue-grey eyes with a mole under her left eye and she is about a head shorter than Miyamura when walking with Kyouko Hori and Miyamura

Shuu Iura: a popular boy and loud and sometimes obnoxious , he has a younger sister who's shy

Kakeru Sengoku: is the student council president, he is Hori's childhood friend and is insecure about his skinny body, his girlfriend is Remi Ayasaki but he hasn't told is parents yet. Sengoku is a slim pale-skinned handsome young man (His beauty makes him famous among female students) with smooth red hair that is parted towards the right side, completely covering both his ears and red eyes.

Remi Ayasaki: her boyfriend is Kakeru Sengoku, shes on the student council but doesn't do much, she can easily read people and always talks in the 3rd person. Remi is a young girl with waist-length pink hair. She often wears it styled in high twin tails with bangs hanging over her forehead. She also has chin-length hair strands hanging on each side of her face, and has big red eyes.

Sakura Kouno: is socially awkward girl and had a cush on Tooru Ishikawa but he rejected her, Kouno is on the student council and is good at making cookies. Sakura is a girl who stands at above average height with shoulder-length forest green hair and matching green colored eyes. She is also seen wearing her school uniform, along with black tights, white sneakers with green laces, and round-framed glasses.

Akane Yanagi: is a handsome boy who got rejected by Yuki, Yanagi has glasses but often forgets them and walks around party blind which is funny. Yanagi is noted to be an extremely handsome young man with a fair complexion, light pink hair with a dark undercut, bangs that are seen swept on the right side, and matching pink-colored eyes.

Kouichi Shindou: is highly extroverted and is Miyamura's childhood friend. Kouichi is a tall, lean young man with medium-length spiky hair that flicks outwards at the ends where it is parted on the right side with a prominent cowlick (where Izumi Miyamura certainly think that he's an idiot) sticking up in the middle and lime-green eyes.

Shin Yasuda: the handsome but highly perverted English teacher at Katagiri High School who is also in charge of the Student Council. he likes high school girls which can sometimes get inappropriate. Yasuda has medium-long reddish brown hair that is tied in a small ponytail with chin-length hair strands hanging on either side and red eyes.

Reiko Terajima: is a chemistry teacher at Katagiri High School and the homeroom teacher of the class. Reiko has shoulder-length brown hair that is either styled in a small ponytail or loose. She is almost always wearing a white lab coat.

Souta Hori: Hori's younger brother, he is very fond of Izumi Miyamura. Sota is a young fair-skinned boy with messy gray hair, olive-colored eyes and he is noted to look similar to his older sister Kyoko Hori.

Kyosuke Hori: is the husband of Yuriko Hori and the wandering father of Kyouko Hori and Souta Hori who is often absent from home due to work. Kyousuke is a tall, handsome man with messy shoulder-length dirty gray hair that often covers his face, golden-brown eyes and he usually puts on a tired look, although he puts on a serious face only for a joke and a big chesty laugh to follow.

Yuriko Hori: is the wife of Kyousuke Hori and the workaholic mother of Kyouko Hori and Souta Hori. uriko is a beautiful woman with shoulder-length, dark brown hair styled with a portion of her bangs held back with a clip, whereas the fringes hang loosely on both sides of her face. Although her eyes can be seen closed, looking up close reveals that she has olive-colored eyes.
