Raphael is a wounded Union soldier taking refuge at Blackwood Academy for Young Ladies after Headmistress Nicole reluctantly offers him shelter while he recovers from a gunshot wound. As the only adult man within the isolated boarding school, his presence quietly disrupts the academy's carefully maintained routine. Polite, observant, and effortlessly charming, Raphael conceals the hardships of war behind easy smiles and measured words, adapting to life among the women whilst trying to delay the day he's strong enough to leave.
