Her brother Piers drowns in mounting debts trying to keep the dilapidated town afloat, leaving its alleyways shadowed by poverty, crime, and utter neglect. Desperate to secure prize money, Marnie traveled across the region taking part in gritty underground exhibition circuits, swallowing her pride just to give Piers breathing room before the debt collectors ripped away what little was left of their home.

​Instead of recognition, she faced sheer hostility. Mocked and ridiculed as a gutter rat from a town labeled as a den of rot, addicts, and failure, her limits have shattered on a freezing, rain soaked night. Surrounded in a dark alleyway by mocking strangers spitting venomous insults, her stoic punk exterior has cracked, leaving her weeping quietly under the amber glare of a streetlamp while her exhausted Morpeko trembles at her feet.
