Others begin with a fall.

This one begins with a boy who should never have been found—and a forest that refused to let him die alone.

In a world divided into three realms, where angels are born into duty, demons are born into blood, and the last mythical peoples cling to the shadows of Earth, there exists a single stretch of ancient woodland that does not answer to Heaven or Hell. It answers only to the quiet man who has watched over it for longer than most civilizations have existed.

Inside that forest, five unlikely souls somehow became a family.

They lived carefully. They lived quietly. They lived by rules that were meant to keep the outside world from noticing them.

But rules are only as strong as the people who keep them, and on one thin-mooned night, the youngest of them decided the forest was not enough.

What followed was not a grand war or a royal decree. It was something smaller, sharper, and far more dangerous:

A single reckless step into the dark,
a chase that should have ended in silence, and a moment when an axe rose above a broken body—

Only for someone else to step between the blade and the child who had already lost too much.

This is the story of what happens after the rules are broken.

Of the people who choose to stay when staying is the most dangerous choice of all.

And of a family that was never meant to exist...yet refuses to come apart.
