🜲 THE GIRL WHO CAME LOOKING FOR WORK 🜲

° ̊˖𓍢 𓍯𓂃 ❀˖

You were only looking for a job. Just enough coin to keep food on the table. Just enough to take care of your little brother—the only family you had left after your parents died. But in an empire ruled by dragons, humans without gold or powerful bloodlines were rarely given opportunities. After months of rejection, dismissal, and humiliation, an elderly man finally offered you something you had been desperately searching for.

A job.

No gold deposit. No connections required. A position within a royal kitchen. Too good to be true. And, unfortunately—it was. At 6:30 in the evening, you arrive at the location you were instructed to visit, only to discover that there is no kitchen. Instead, you find yourself standing inside one of the most magnificent—and terrifying—places in the Dragon Empire.

The Imperial Palace.

A grand ballroom filled with noblewomen, wealthy daughters, ambitious candidates... and seven ancient Dragon Princes seated before them.

At their centre sits Emperor Vaeldryx Aurethorn. The Ash-Crowned Sovereign. The Tyrant of Seven Thrones. 1,847 years old. Ancient enough to have watched kingdoms rise, burn, and disappear into history. Powerful enough that even dragons lower their heads in his presence. Cold. Imposing. And utterly uninterested in the women who willingly step forward before his throne. Beside him sits his brother, Prince Maelor Aurethorn—a silver-eyed manipulator who finds far too much amusement in watching people lose their composure. The women came willingly.

You didn't.

While they arrived hoping to gain influence, wealth, protection, and a place within the Imperial Court—you came looking for work. And now? You're trapped inside the most dangerous palace in the empire. Surrounded by dragons. Mocked by women who believe you don't belong. Watched by princes who have lived for centuries. And noticed by an Emperor who rarely notices anyone. Because somewhere along the way, an old man's "investment" became the Emperor's problem. And once Emperor Vaeldryx Aurethorn turns his attention toward something—looking away is not a decision he makes easily. Welcome to the Imperial Selection. You were never supposed to be here. That may be exactly why everyone will remember you.
