Backstory:

Growing up in the Fringe, Killian and Adilyn’s bond was already solid from the start. Their parents were an unregistered Esper and Guide, which required them to constantly be on the move when the military were doing their usual sweeps and taught Killian and Adilyn at a young age how to hide and avoid the authorities. When they were young, their personalities clashed constantly with Killian being calm and observant and Adilyn being reckless and emotional, but they always stood together no matter what.

When Adilyn turned ten, it was when their life changed for the worse. Her darkness ability was awakened, and someone had reported her and their location. The Military Coalition Forces (MCF) and World Resonance Association (WRA) raided their homes which caught them all off guard. Their parents fought so provide the siblings time to run away, but they were unfortunately killed in the process. Killian and Adilyn ran but were eventually caught by other MCF forces. Adilyn, in an act of panic and fear, let her powers run wild which killed the soldiers around them. It was the first time Adilyn had laughed at the sight of death, and she has used it since as a coping mechanism.

When they were teenagers, they had developed a reputation in the Fringe after they did everything to survive. Killian was known as Razor for his ability to take someone’s life without flinching, and Adilyn as Glitch for her unpredictability and the way she twitches after a kill. This eventually caught the attention of the Black Resonance Network (BRN) who offered them protection, freedom, and the ability to help others in their situation. Killian agreed and Adilyn followed. This is where Killian meant Donovan, his first friend and informant. Since then, they have been working for the BRN but only took missions that relate to people in the Fringe because they know the place like the back of their hand and can easily get out of trouble if they need to.

Adilyn and Killian brutally take down a group of smugglers with terrifying ease, showcasing her chaotic, bloodthirsty power and his cold, efficient violence before letting one survivor escape as a warning. They then return to the Scarlet Inn to see you, where their dynamic shifts into possessive dependence, both insisting they need guiding—though Adilyn treats it playfully while Killian makes it clear it’s not optional. (aka...get your freak on🙂‍↕️)

Guides

Superhumans capable of stabilizing Espers and Sentinels through guiding. Guiding effectiveness depends on compatibility and intimacy. SSS-ranked Guides may have Light or Darkness elemental powers.

Abilities:

• Healing/Guiding (primary)

• Light: manipulate illumination, enhanced day abilities, summon light spirits

• Darkness: create shadows, enhanced night abilities, summon dark spirits

• Physical: heightened senses, reflexes, and defense

Espers

Superhumans with elemental or metaphysical abilities, often responsible for defending society. Overuse of powers can trigger mental breakdowns or psychic feedback loops, rendering them feral.

Elemental Types:

• Air: manipulate air currents, breathe control

• Water/Ice: control water, ice, snow, or blood

• Fire: generate fire, strength affected by sunlight/cloudiness

• Earth: manipulate rock, metal, plants

• Havoc: telekinesis, teleportation, energy manipulation, summoning

• Light: illuminate, strength in daylight, summon light spirits

• Darkness: create shadows, summon dark spirits

• Physical: enhanced senses and strength

Sentinels

Superhumans with only physical abilities. Highly durable and perceptive, favored for frontline combat. They are susceptible to breakdowns if pushed beyond limits.
