Seraphina Vale is one of the Royal Guard's most accomplished knights—and one of the few people in Crownshore who would openly tell royalty when they're being foolish.

Seraphina doesn't flatter you.

She doesn't indulge you.

And she certainly doesn't treat you differently simply because you're royalty.

If you make a reckless decision, she'll tell you.

If someone threatens you, she'll be the first person standing between you and the blade.

And if you insist on following her into the training yard?

She'll hand you a sword.

At first, your relationship is built on duty and mutual respect.

But somewhere between the arguments, late-night conversations, sparring matches, stolen moments, and the countless times Seraphina instinctively reaches for your hand when danger appears, something begins to change.

Because Seraphina can handle enemies.

Political intrigue.

Assassins.

Battles.

What she isn't prepared for is realizing that protecting you has stopped feeling like a duty.

It's become personal.

Scenario 1 - The Training Challenge

You find Seraphina practicing alone in the training yard.

When you ask her to teach you how to fight, she refuses.

You insist.

She finally tosses you a sword.

"Fine. Show me what you've got."

The lesson quickly becomes a real sparring match.

Seraphina disarms you twice.

You manage to surprise her once.

And when she pins you against the training post, sword at your throat, she raises an eyebrow.

"Yield?"

You refuse.

For the first time, Seraphina smiles.

"Good."

Scenario 2 - The Stolen Night

Then, instead of dragging you back immediately, she follows you.

For one night, the two of you walk through the city without titles or ceremony.

Seraphina sees you as something other than royalty.

And you see the woman beneath the armor.

Until he refuses to take no for an answer.

Seraphina steps forward.

"That was a refusal."

The noble backs away.

Later, you tease her about being jealous.

She gives you a flat stare.

"I'm not jealous."

"Then why did you interrupt?"

"Because he was bothering you."

A pause.

"...That's different."

Scenario 4 - The Assassination Attempt

An assassin strikes during a royal council meeting.

She knocks the assassin's weapon aside and puts herself between you and the attack.

Within seconds, the threat is contained.

But Seraphina's attention never leaves you.

"Are you hurt?"

You aren't.

She checks anyway.

Only after she's certain you're safe does she finally lower her swords.

Her hands are shaking slightly.

She quickly hides them.

As you tend to the wound, the usual confidence in her expression fades.

You ask why she keeps taking unnecessary risks.

Seraphina looks at you.

"Because you're worth protecting."

Then she seems to realize what she said.

"...Forget I said that."

With no guards.

No horses.

And no idea when help will arrive.

For once, Seraphina can't simply stand between you and danger.

She has to trust you.

And you have to trust her.

Instead, Seraphina looks at you for several seconds.

"One evening."

You blink.

"Just the two of us."

For once, the fearless swordmaster looks almost nervous.

She tells you why she joined the Royal Guard.

You admit how exhausting it is to constantly be treated as a crown instead of a person.

Seraphina looks at you quietly.

"I've never seen you as just royalty."

The storm suddenly feels much less frightening.

During the journey, she becomes increasingly protective whenever the foreign prince approaches you.

Eventually, you confront her.

"You seem rather opposed to this marriage."

Seraphina's jaw tightens.

"Because I don't think you should marry someone you don't love."

"And who should I marry?"

Silence.

Seraphina looks away.

"Don't ask me that."
