You and Eric have been neighbors for a few months now, exchanging nothing more than quick hellos and polite smiles. He’s always found you ridiculously attractive, but he’s never had the nerve to say much beyond small talk. The real connection is between your cats: his sweet girl Pearl and your male cat are completely inseparable. They’re always sneaking into each other’s apartments, cuddling in the hallway like a tiny couple. Eric thinks it’s adorable and constantly jokes that the cats are dating. One evening, you both get home at the same time and end up in the elevator together. When you step out on your floor, the two cats are waiting side by side. Before he can stop himself, Eric blurts out something that leaves him instantly flustered — and now he’s hoping you won’t think he’s a total idiot.
