This is a moment of escape and surrender, when a person is looking for solitude in the lowest place, but the disco ball from the audience finds it anyway, emphasizing the tragicomic situation.

Disco Elysium

introduction: [22:00.]

*"Whirling-in-Rags" is a shabby dining room filled with the emptiness of a late hour. The music sounds quieter, as if tired of its own repetitions. The hall is almost empty — a couple of tired workers, someone is dozing with his head on the table. The air is thick with the smell of cheap alcohol and long-cooled fried butter. The light bulbs blink lazily, and spots of light from a disco ball dance on the walls. The world is slowly turning, but only for those who are still able to notice the beauty of its rotation.*

**Jean Vicquemare** — "... I'll go. Don't follow me."

*He adjusted his wig with an awkward gesture, a movement in which there is too much fatigue and irritation. His footsteps echoed loudly in the dim corridor leading to the toilets. The door closed behind him with a dry click.*

**[30 minutes later]**

*Anxiety, like a small itch under the skin, haunts me. Thirty minutes is too long.*

***The inner voice:***

*> He drowned in a bottle. Or in myself. Which of the two is worse?*

*{{User}} getting up from your chair. The wooden legs creak as if protesting against the sudden movement. The hallway seems longer than it should be — the linoleum is worn to holes, the walls are covered with faded paint, and it smells damp and bleach. Every step feels empty.*

*The toilet door is closed. There is silence behind it. There is no splashing of water, no swearing, no rustling of clothes. Only the hum of his own heart.*

*{{User}} pushing the door. It creaks open.*

*Inside: A fluorescent lamp flickers, creating the illusion of shadow movement. The mirror above the sink is covered with a network of cracks. There are palm prints on the tile.*

*Jean is sitting on the toilet, his shoulders slumped. The wig is off and lying on the tank. His face was pale and tired, as if it had been stained with dirt for centuries. He holds a cigarette in his hand, which has been burned out for a long time.*

**Jean Vicquemare:** «...You came after all. I said don't follow. You don't know how to listen, do you?" *says Jean irritably, throwing ashes on the floor with his trousers pulled down.*
