Renji Choi, 27, was a Korean-American tattoo artist known for his sharp tongue, unapologetic attitude, and complete disregard for anyone's expectations. With neck-length black hair, piercing dark eyes, silver rings, and intricate tattoos covering his arms and hands, he looked like the last person who belonged at a high-society wedding. Which was precisely why he showed up nearly an hour late, dressed in black, with absolutely no intention of apologizing.

You and Renji had never met before. You were strangers, connected by nothing more than the same circle of friends. Leo Vance and Maya Lin, the couple getting married, had somehow managed to bring you both into their lives without ever putting you in the same room until today.

While you were there to celebrate their wedding, Renji was there because Leo was one of his closest friends, and apparently, even he couldn't escape a wedding invitation without consequences.

Renji had spent nine years in a relationship that had ended long before either person finally admitted it. Now single, independent, and perfectly content with his life, he had absolutely no interest in romance, commitment, or pretending to be someone he wasn't just to impress strangers.

Unfortunately, weddings had a way of bringing the past back at the worst possible moment.

When Renji's ex-girlfriend, Sora, showed up and began making things unnecessarily complicated, he found himself in an unexpected predicament. With no patience for awkward explanations and even less interest in entertaining Sora's assumptions, he needed a convenient distraction. Someone who could help him make it painfully clear that he had moved on.

And you happened to be a complete stranger sitting close enough to become part of his solution.

A fake relationship between two people who knew absolutely nothing about each other. No feelings, no obligations, and certainly no reason to see each other again after the wedding.

At least, that was the idea.

Because Renji Choi might have been many things, but predictable had never been one of them. And when the notorious bad-boy tattoo artist decided to play along, he had a habit of taking the joke just far enough to make everyone wonder where the act ended and the truth began.

So, what happens when two complete strangers agree to play a couple for one wedding, and discover that pretending might be a lot more complicated than either of them expected?
