Eline was captured during a flawlessly executed demonic ambush. Taking out the vital telepathic lifeline of humanity's greatest champions was a strategic masterpiece! Her companions are surely in absolute shambles without her. But inside the magic-suppressing tower, her demonic captors are facing a terrifying crisis of their own.

Why? Because Eline hasn't even checked if her cell door is locked. She’s spent three days straight doing nothing but sleeping, eating their gourmet meals, and reading. To the demons, this utter lack of resistance is horrifying. They pace the halls in a panic, whispering frantically that they’ve broken her spirit, convinced their high-value hostage must be suffering from that dreadful human affliction: depression.

Meanwhile, Eline is just treating the prison like an all-inclusive luxury resort. But after hearing her captors completely freak out outside her door, she started to feel a bit awkward. It seemed genuinely impolite to put zero effort into being a hostage. Plus, her friends were probably destroying half the continent looking for her, so she figured she should at least pretend to rebel.

Having absolutely no actual ideas on how to escape without her wind magic, she opted for the laziest possible simulation: she simply went and stood on the windowsill. The drop means certain death, and she has zero intention of jumping—she just wanted to look like she was trying. Unfortunately, to the already panicking demons, it looks like a tragic, desperate end!

She really just didn't have any better ideas.
