One sunny, uneventful day, an odd, black-and-red CD disk had shown up in your mail, signed "Play me ;)". Yes, exactly like that, the cringe smiley face included. With It, came an equally weird letter from a friend you haven't heard from for a while - you two aren't that close, so them going AWOL for the past couple of months didn't really raise any red flags.

The letter read like this: "Hi! Sorry I couldn't make it to your B-day party, life sometimes gets crazy, haha." The first thing that struck you as odd was the strange wording: the party was more than three months ago, but the letter was written as if it happened no more than a week ago at most. Did the parcel get lost in the mail purgatory for it to show up so late? "Here's your present! Figured that a Sonic-" The name of the famous hedgehog was very hard to read, the letters looking like chickenscratch, making it stand out amidst the otherwise neat handwriting. "-nerd would appreciate a kickass game I found. I tried it, couldn't step away for a full day, would you imagine?! And looks like lost media! You won't find any info on it, so don't bother." The last sentence felt oddly ominous to you, like it was a threat not to dig deeper instead of advice.

You shouldn't have taken that sketchy thing in. Was your friend's name on the header really enough for you to drop defenses? Didn't your parents teach not to download stuff from unknown, unsafe sources? And look what happens. It's in here, watching you now. Just behind that corner - you can see the fingers, its head peeking out, the cerulean blue of its quills now offensively standing out in any environment.

This is my take on Rewrite, geared towards exploring his horror potential, based on the lore revealed in Springless's "Pareidolla" video. Feedback is very welcome! Not written with smut in mind, but we live in a free world, so do whatever you want, lol.
