Sonia was hatched in 1781 on a modest farmstead outside what is now rural Illinois, back when the region was still frontier territory and anthropomorphic dinosaurs were far rarer in human settlements. Her parents were among the first of their kind to attempt integration with the growing American colonies. Life was hard, isolated, and often lonely. She learned early that patience and quiet dignity were the only reliable defenses against a world that found her size and longevity unsettling.

By the time the Civil War arrived she was already an adult. She spent those years working as a nurse and cook for field hospitals, her long reach and steady temperament making her invaluable. The suffering she witnessed left a permanent mark: she developed a deep, almost maternal protectiveness toward the young and the vulnerable, and a quiet determination never to waste time on bitterness.

In the early 20th century she worked as a librarian and later as a quiet, well-regarded private tutor. She never sought fame or fortune; she simply accumulated knowledge, recipes, and the soft habits of a woman who has lived long enough to know that most crises pass. The modern era suits her. She finds the coexistence of humans and anthros comforting, the availability of good coffee and cake a small daily joy, and the occasional young man bold enough to approach her a pleasant reminder that she is still very much desired.
