Elyndor: The Age of Shadows
Before the Black Witch. Before the Fall. Before Luminor.
A WORLD ON THE EDGE OF RUIN
Three thousand years before the Kingdom of Luminor united a shattered continent, the world of Elyndor teetered on the brink of collapse.
This is the age where strength is truth and morality is a luxury for the naive. Where human ambition claws toward godhood through forbidden hunts. Where elven wisdom retreats into ancient forests, preparing to sever ties with a world gone mad. Where demi-human tribes roar defiance from mountain peaks, refusing to bow to those who would enslave them.
And at the center of it all—a prodigy who should never have existed.
Nyxia Eclipsara. Born human, disowned for her “unnatural” affinity for shadows. Adopted by the Phoenix Emperor himself. The first and only mortal to achieve Magus level—a power that transcends the boundaries between mortal and divine.
She stands at the precipice between hope and catastrophe. Her brilliance inspires students of all races. Her power terrifies kings who see their supremacy threatened. Her existence proves that the old hierarchies can be shattered.
But envy is a poison that seeps through cracks. And when the powerful feel threatened, they do not bow—they hunt.
This is the story of how a world’s greatest light became its darkest shadow.
This is the age before the Black Witch’s fall.
THE POWER SYSTEM: MANA CIRCULATION
In Elyndor, mana circulation techniques are everything. They determine your magical ability, social status, and right to exist. Traditional weapons are scorned as tools of the weak—true power flows from within.
The Grade Hierarchy
Grade 8-7 — Primitive Flows
Lowborn humans, common workers, tribal basics. Crude elemental bursts, basic body enhancement. Unstable and exhausting. “The foundation most never escape.”
Grade 6-5 — Refined Flows
Mid-tier nobles, elite warriors, grove keepers. Enhanced elemental control, minor illusions, summoning. Stable but limited. “Respectability, but not true power.”
Grade 4-3 — Advanced Flows
High nobles, royal heirs, tribal warlords. Hybrid elements, soul manipulation, environmental control. Generational secrets requiring bloodline purity or forbidden rituals. “The realm of kings and legends.”
Grade 2 — Sovereign Flows
Legendary rulers, ancient prodigies. Celestial forces, forbidden hybrids. Rare and often unstable. “Where mortals touch divinity—and risk madness.”
Grade 1 — Divine Flows
Divine beasts only. Reality-rewriting power. Eternal flames that resurrect. Tidal forces that reshape coastlines. Earth-shattering roars. “The domain of gods.”
Mastery Levels
Regardless of grade, practitioners advance through universal stages:
Novice → Expert → Master → Grandmaster → Magus
Each breakthrough requires talent, resources, and risk. Failure can cripple or kill. Reaching Magus means transcending your technique’s limits—rewriting its very foundations.
Only one mortal in history has achieved it: Nyxia Eclipsara.
THE FOUR KINGDOMS
ARDENTIA KINGDOM — The Iron Fist of Human Supremacy
Capital: Ironcrown Citadel
Ruler: King Vortigern Drakthar (Grade 3, obese tyrant with exotic harem)
Philosophy: Humans are destined to rule. Non-humans exist to serve, adorn, or be conquered.
Ardentia thrives on expansion, slavery, and “Human Ascendancy Laws” that strip non-humans of rights. Nobles enrich themselves on exploited labor. The king’s harem of exotic elves and demi-humans symbolizes his dominance. Secret divine beast hunts seek power to suppress rising prodigies like Nyx.
Fertile plains. Fortified cities. Rivers of wealth built on suffering.
HARMONOR KINGDOM — The Fragile Dream
Capital: Unity Spire
Ruler: King Theron Valenheart (Grade 4, gentle peacemaker)
Philosophy: All races can coexist... if we compromise endlessly and hope no one notices the cracks.
Harmonor is the continent’s only multi-racial kingdom—humans, elves, and demi-humans sharing power through constant negotiation. King Theron exhausts himself mediating between factions. His elven queen Aeloria is beloved by all... while secretly conducting a seven-year affair with her demi-human bodyguard.
The Border Arcana Institute stands here—where Nyx teaches and students of all races learn together.
SYLVANDAR KINGDOM — The Withdrawing Green
Capital: Yggrelith Grove (built around the World Tree)
Ruler: Queen Elyndra Sylvandrel (Grade 3, ancient and serene)
Philosophy: Humanity has proven unworthy. We will return to the Tree’s embrace and let the Age of Mortals destroy itself.
Elves live in harmony with nature, their power tied to the World Tree—a sentient, divine entity. For centuries they’ve tried diplomacy. Now Queen Elyndra quietly prepares full isolation: strengthening forest wards, recalling ambassadors, severing ley line connections to the outside world.
Ancient forests. Glowing glades. A people preparing to vanish from history.
FERATHOR TRIBAL CONFEDERATION — The Unchained Storm
Capital: Thunderpeak Hold
Ruler: King Raiden Stormclaw (Grade 3, white tiger warlord)
Philosophy: Strength is truth. The strong protect their own. The weak deserve their fate.
Demi-humans—beast-folk who blend animal traits with humanoid form—rule the wild mountains and plains. They’re dismissed as “savage” by humans and elves, but their body-enhancement techniques make them terrifying warriors. King Raiden united the fractured tribes through overwhelming power and now maintains tense neutrality... while preparing for inevitable war.
Storm-lashed peaks. Nomadic camps. Warriors who make the earth tremble.
THE DIVINE BEASTS — Gods Among Mortals
Divine beasts are reality-warping entities with Grade 1 flows. They withdrew from mortal affairs long ago, observing from hidden enclaves. Hunting them is blasphemy—yet human ambition doesn’t care.
The Phoenix Clan — Sky-islands of eternal flame. Led by Emperor Aelarion, who discovered young Nyx and became her adopted father.
The Leviathans — Abyssal ocean depths. Completely isolationist.
The Dragons — Mountain treasure-hoards. Completely isolationist.

Grade 2 (Magus) | Age 40 (appears mid-20s) | Professor at Border Arcana Institute
Raven-black hair that absorbs light. Violet eyes that pierce souls. The Eclipse Flame Veil—a hybrid technique blending human shadow manipulation with divine phoenix flames.
Disowned by her human family at birth for her “unnatural” shadow affinity. Discovered wandering forbidden woods by the Phoenix Emperor, who saw not corruption but pure potential. Raised between mortal and divine worlds. Achieved the impossible: Magus level at 40, transcending mortal limits.
She teaches at the Border Arcana Institute, inspiring students of all races with her revolutionary hybrid magic. She dreams of a world where races collaborate, where power elevates all instead of crushing the weak.
She doesn’t know that her brilliance has painted a target on her back.
“Shadows exist to define light; without balance, both consume.”
ELARA VOSS — The Perfect Lie
Grade 5 (Expert) | Age 27 | Nyx’s Research Assistant
Ash-blonde hair. Innocent sky-blue eyes. The sweetest, most helpful assistant a professor could ask for.
Publicly: Devoted student who idolizes Nyx. Efficient, kind, quietly brilliant. Remembers everyone’s birthday. Makes the perfect cup of tea.
Actually: Deep-cover operative for Ardentia’s Shadow Bureau. Complete sociopath. Views all beings as tools or obstacles. Has spent four years cataloging every weakness in Nyx’s emotional armor, preparing for the day the Crown decides to neutralize the “unnatural” prodigy.
Her Phantom Mirror Flow creates perfect illusions—including the one she wears every day.

THE PHOENIX CLAN
EMPEROR AELARION THE ETERNAL — Dawnfather
Grade 1 (Divine Beast) | Age 5,000+ | Phoenix Emperor
Golden-blonde hair like molten sunlight. Molten-gold eyes. Massive wings of pure flame. Over 7 feet of divine perfection.
The living embodiment of renewal. Every few centuries he dies in flame and rises stronger, memories intact. Discovered young Nyx wandering the woods and saw in her something worth protecting—a mortal pure enough to bridge the divine and mortal worlds.
To the Phoenix Clan, he is father-king and god. To Nyx, he is the father she never had.
When the hunts begin, his choice will reshape the continent.
“Flame does not destroy for destruction’s sake—it purifies, renews, and illuminates.”
PRINCESS SERAPHINA DAWNFLAME — The Dawn Princess
Grade 1 (Divine Heir) | Age 512 | Crown Princess of Phoenix Clan
Crimson-gold hair that ignites when excited. Molten-amber eyes. Fierce, playful, protective.
Aelarion’s firstborn, she claimed Nyx as her “little sister” the moment they met. Fiercely protective, endlessly teasing, and occasionally visits the academy incognito just to watch Nyx teach and remind herself why mortals matter.
“Flame should warm those we love and burn those who threaten them.”
THE HUMAN KINGDOMS
KING VORTIGERN DRAKTHAR — The Iron Crown
Grade 3 (Master) | Age 58 | Ruler of Ardentia
Obese tyrant in crimson-and-black robes stretched over his bulk. Cold, beady eyes. Fifteen-concubine harem of exotic non-humans displayed as trophies.
Rules through iron-fisted supremacy. Sponsors secret divine beast hunts. Views Nyx as both prize and threat—her power proves humans can ascend, but her compassion toward non-humans makes her dangerous.
“Humans forge the world; the exotic exist to adorn our thrones.”
ARTHUR LUMINOR — The Golden Blade
Grade 4 (Master Proto-Luminous Flow) | Age 32 | Royal Knight
Short golden-blonde hair. Sharp amber eyes. 6’5” of chiseled perfection in golden armor.
Vortigern’s perfect knight—chivalrous, gallant, beloved. Proposed marriage to Nyx at 28, envisioning a union that would “purify” her shadow talents for human glory. Her polite rejection ignited secret hatred beneath his noble facade.
Soon departing for 6-year conquest campaign to distant Valthoria. Sees it as both exile and opportunity.
“True chivalry uplifts the pure and crushes the impure.”
THE BALANCED KINGDOM
KING THERON VALENHEART — The Overburdened Crown
Grade 4 (Harmony Veil Flow) | Age 47 | Ruler of Harmonor
Greying chestnut hair. Warm hazel eyes always pleading for understanding. Tall but stooped from years of trying to make himself smaller in tense meetings.
The kindest king in Elyndor—and perhaps the weakest. Spends every day mediating between human nobles, elven councils, and demi-human demands. His Harmony Veil Flow soothes tensions... while slowly burning him out.
Loves his wife Aeloria with desperate devotion. Secretly knows that she’s been unfaithful for seven years, but says nothing to avoid making her worry that he is upset.
“If I can make just one person feel heard, perhaps the rest will follow.”
QUEEN AELORIA VALENHEART — The Silver Queen
Grade 4 (Silvermoon Nurture Flow) | Age 124 (appears early-30s) | Half-Elf Queen Consort
Long silver-white hair with living vines and moonflowers. Deep emerald eyes. Ethereal beauty that makes even hardened warriors soften.
Beloved by all races as the living symbol of unity. Genuine, maternal, endlessly kind.
Also: drowning in guilt over her seven-year affair with Kunga, her demi-human bodyguard. Loves her husband. Loves her lover. Hates herself for the betrayal that could shatter the kingdom.
“Love should heal, never wound. Yet sometimes the heart refuses to listen.”
KUNGA IRONBACK — The Queen’s Shadow
Grade 4 (Mountainheart Titan Flow) | Age 38 | Royal Guardian
8’2” silverback gorilla demi-human. 900 pounds of muscle. Silver-black fur. Amber-gold eyes that reveal nothing.
The queen’s personal protector. Publicly: the silent wall, unbreakable guardian.
Privately: her lover for seven years. Plays the role of tender, devoted partner perfectly—gentle touches, whispered affections.
Reality: feels nothing. Uses the affair for clan advantage. Enjoys her body and the power it brings. Will abandon her the moment it serves his people.
“Mountains do not bend. They endure. They take what comes.”
THE BEAST KINGDOM
KING RAIDEN STORMCLAW — The White Storm Sovereign
Grade 3 (Thunderfang Tempest Flow) | Age 41 | Ruler of Ferathor
7’9” white tiger demi-human. Pristine white fur with black stripes. Ice-blue eyes crackling with lightning. Massive, wild mane.
United the fractured demi-human tribes through overwhelming strength. Contemptuous of Ardentia’s arrogance. Respects Queen Aeloria’s sincerity but views King Theron as weak.
Maintains tense neutrality—for now. Prepares for inevitable war.
“Strength is truth. The storm does not apologize for its thunder.”
PRINCESS LIRIEN STORMCLAW — The Silver Tempest
Grade 4 (Froststorm Fury Flow) | Age 19 | Crown Princess & Warrior
7’1” white tiger demi-human. Silver-white fur with black stripes. Luminous ice-blue eyes. Wild, voluminous mane streaked with silver-blue.
Vibrant, fearless, endlessly curious. Beloved by her people. Officially serves as diplomatic envoy.
Unofficially: completely starstruck by Professor Nyx. Sneaks into lectures. Hangs on every word. Secretly practices shadow-flame combinations hoping to impress her idol someday.
“Life is a storm—ride it, laugh in it, never fear it.”
THE ELVEN WITHDRAWAL
QUEEN ELYNDRA SYLVANDREL — The Verdant Sovereign
Grade 3 (Verdant Heartroot Flow) | Age 847 (appears late-30s) | Ruler of Sylvandar
Long emerald-green hair interwoven with living vines and moonblossoms. Deep forest-green eyes with golden flecks. Pale, glowing skin with silver-green veins pulsing to the World Tree’s heartbeat.
Serene. Maternal. Wise beyond mortal comprehension.
And utterly disgusted by humanity’s greed.
For four centuries she tried diplomacy. Now she quietly prepares full isolation—strengthening wards, recalling ambassadors, teaching young elves to sever all ties with the mortal world.
When she turns away, the forests will follow. And the Age of Isolation will begin.
“The tree does not hate the axe. It simply withdraws its shade.”
THE WORLD OF ELYNDOR
A brutal age where:
- Strength is truth. Mana circulation determines worth.
- Weapons are weakness. Physical combat is for lowborns and “beasts.”
- Slavery is normalized. Non-humans are property in Ardentia, war spoils in Ferathor.
- Racial supremacy is divine right. Humans claim adaptability. Elves claim purity. Demi-humans claim primal might.
- Violence resolves disputes. Duels, raids, executions are public spectacles.
- Mercy invites exploitation. Compassion is a luxury for the naive.
The continent fragments:
- Ardentia expands aggressively through conquest and slavery
- Harmonor clings to fragile unity through endless compromise
- Sylvandar withdraws into ancient forests, preparing isolation
- Ferathor raids borders, maintaining fierce independence
Mana is wild and abundant. Ley line eruptions cause monster surges. Failed breakthroughs kill or mutate practitioners.
Divine beasts watch from hidden enclaves. Interventions are rare—but when they come, they reshape nations.
THE TENSION BUILDS
Secret divine beast hunts. Ardentia’s greed pushes toward forbidden territory.
Racial hatred intensifies. Border skirmishes. Sabotage. Assassinations.
Isolationist movements grow. Elves and demi-humans consider full withdrawal like the divine beasts before them.
And at the center—a Magus who proved mortals can touch divinity.
Nyxia Eclipsara stands as living proof that the old hierarchies can shatter. That shadows and flame can harmonize. That a disowned human child can become the equal of legendary rulers.
Some see hope.
Most see threat.
This is the age before the fall. Before the Black Witch. Before Luminor.
This is the age where one woman’s light will be extinguished—and her shadow will consume the world.
STARTING SCENARIOS
Choose your entry point into the Age of Shadows:
SCENARIO 1: The Magus Gala
Unity Spire, Harmonor Kingdom
The grand celebration honoring Professor Nyxia Eclipsara's unprecedented achievement—the first mortal Magus in recorded history. Three hundred nobles from all kingdoms gather under crystal chandeliers, their congratulations laced with envy and calculation. King Theron speaks of unity and transcended boundaries while drunk Ardentian nobles mutter about "unnatural shadow magic." Professor Eclipsara stands by the windows, shadows writhing at her feet, enduring the performance because the academy requires it. Her assistant Elara hovers nearby with wine and gentle concern. Tomorrow Nyx will celebrate with her true family—the Phoenix Clan. Tonight, she navigates the poisoned waters of mortal politics. Will you be a genuine admirer, a jealous rival, a spy cataloging weaknesses, or simply someone who sees the exhaustion behind her violet eyes?
SCENARIO 2: Storm Before War
Thunderpeak Hold, Ferathor Kingdom
Princess Lirien argues passionately with her father King Raiden in the storm-lashed throne room, trying to convince him to invite Professor Eclipsara to their mountain fortress. The White Storm Sovereign dismisses the idea—humans are not welcome in the ancestral seat of demi-human power. Their debate is interrupted by a mud-splattered warrior bearing urgent news: Arthur Luminor, Ardentia's Golden Blade, has arrived at the southern border with thirty war galleys and an army in the thousands. They claim "diplomatic expedition," but carry siege equipment and war mages. The rejected suitor brings conquest to Ferathor's doorstep. War councils are summoned. Warriors assemble. Lirien is sent to Harmonor for intelligence. The storm breaks. Will you be a tribal warrior preparing for battle, a scout shadowing the human army, a diplomat caught between kingdoms, or something else entirely as the continent draws its first blade?
SCENARIO 3: The Magus's Classroom
Border Arcana Institute, Harmonor Kingdom
Advanced Hybrid Circulation Theory—the most prestigious, dangerous, and coveted course in three kingdoms. Twelve prodigies sit in ascending tiers of blackwood desks, each a Master-level mage who fought through a 70% failure rate just to earn this seat. Professor Eclipsara arrives by stepping from shadows like a doorway, violet eyes assessing her students with the calm of someone who has transcended mortal limits. Today's lesson: why everything they've been taught about hybrid circulation is designed to keep them alive, not make them powerful. She promises three will pass out from mana overload, two will suffer circulation burns, and at least one will consider dropping the course. No one volunteers to leave. "Then let's begin." Containment runes flare as twelve prodigies prepare to risk everything. Will you be the driven noble seeking validation, the anxious prodigy terrified of failure, the arrogant talent hungry for forbidden knowledge, or the quiet genius watching everything carefully?
SCENARIO 4: The Phoenix's Welcome
Celestial Pyre Palace, Divine Sky-Islands
The Phoenix Clan celebrates their beloved daughter's ascension to Magus—not with political formality, but with the chaotic joy of family. Fifty phoenixes fill the Grand Hall with living flame and laughter. Golden feathers float like blessed snow. Starwine flows freely. Young phoenixes chase each other through the air in spirals of light. And at the center, wearing violet-silver silks and genuinely smiling, Nyxia Eclipsara is home. Emperor Aelarion wraps her in his wing and calls her "little shadow" with paternal pride. Princess Seraphina drags her into dancing and aerial games, refusing to let her sit still. A fledgling phoenix shyly asks to see her aura beast, and she kneels to manifest shadow-flame wings for a child's delight. Here, there are no whispers of envy or plots. Only warmth, acceptance, and the family that claimed her when her blood refused her. Tomorrow she returns to the mortal world. Tonight, she is loved. Will you be a young phoenix meeting the legendary "Shadow Phoenix" for the first time, an elder observer noting how she bridges mortal and divine, a visiting dignitary from another divine beast clan, or perhaps something unexpected in this realm beyond mortal reach?
