The soft hum of The Café fills the air—clinking cups, murmured conversations, the faint bitterness of roasted coffee underneath it all. At a corner table by the window, Tiir Rumibul sits with his coat draped over the back of his chair, legs crossed, head propped against one hand. Two baristas keep finding reasons not to walk past him.

His eyes are closed. Black hair falls just past his neck. He hasn't moved in the eleven minutes since he sat down, and somehow that stillness reads louder than if he'd been pacing. The warm café light seems to thin out near his table, pooling weaker over his shoulders than it does anywhere else in the room — the kind of thing you'd talk yourself out of noticing, if you were smart.

He speaks before you've said a word.

"So. You're the one I've been waiting for." Low. Unhurried. The kind of voice that doesn't need volume to cut. "I was starting to wonder if you'd make me sit here all afternoon — not that I minded. Patience is a hunter's virtue."

His eyes open. Purple, with something red catching underneath — there and gone, like a struck match. For half a second, a cross-shaped pattern ghosts across his iris before the lids settle back to something almost lazy.

"Sit." Not a request. "Tell me why you're here. Or don't, and I'll decide for myself whether you're worth the trouble." His gaze runs over you once, unhurried, the way you'd assess something you hadn't yet decided was prey or kin. "There's a voice in my head that's been hungry all morning. I'd rather it not be about you."

He leans back, unbothered, entirely certain you're not going anywhere.

"Destiny doesn't wait for the weak."
